Celtic are ready to resurrect their interest in Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon — if they fail to land Fraser Forster on a permanent basis.

And the desire to strengthen their squad for an assault on Europe next season will also see the Parkhead side pursue Tannadice pair Johnny Russell and winger Gary Mackay-Steven.
The need to reinforce key positions is paramount for Neil Lennon this summer — with Gordon an intriguing option for the Celtic manager.

Out of contract in three months’ time, Sunderland’s £9million signing has been curtailed by a knee operation and hasn’t played a first-team game for over a year.

Thoughts ? Mackay-Steven in particular is electric.

Dont believe MacKay-Steven and Russell are a big addition for an assault in Europe. we already have a team full of young players. What we need is experience. Having said that if the price was right we would be silly not to sign these 2 prospects.

We're not wanting another McCarthy situation so I reckon we should definitely go for this pair.

Russel's the one I've seen more of and I've been shouting for us to sign him for a while. The only time I've seen the other one play is against us and the huns. He was probably the most dangerous player on the park against us at Tannadice in the Cup before he had to go off, and when I seen him against that mob he absolutely tore them to shreds.

Mackay Steven would be my main target in the summer window. He will take to European football like a duck to water, anyone football supporter with an eye for a player can see that.

His performance at Ibrokes this season was absolutely electric, he treated Kyle Bartley like his *.

If you mean the player who went off because of the sending off then that was Mackay-Steven.

Mackay-Steven is a better prospect than Forrest imo. Russell is very good too, we missed a trick on Scott Allan - Dundee Utd have a good youth set-up.

I also believe he is perfectly suited to Europe. Perfect for counter attacking football.

Not a chance. He's a good player and I would like him here but Forrest is on another level.

We are a lot more keen on Russell than Mackay-Steven.

Already posted about him in non-media rumours as I heard something today

    Gary Mackay-Steven & Johnny Russell = 100 % yes.

Gordon * off too injury prone now .

He would enhance Forrest imo, having a left sided pacey and tricky winger with an excellent pedigree will be no bad thing.

I firmly believe, but for injury, he would be playing for Liverpool just now. In fact I would guarantee it having seen some of the * that is getting a game for them.

Disagree, watched a lot of Mackay-Steven - he is faster than Forrest and his crossing is better. He's also pretty deadly. I think Forrest is excellent but if we had Mackay-Steven and were linked with Forrest of Dundee Utd then you would say Mackay - Steven is better.

Mackay-Stevens is top of my summer wish list, along with a good keeper (Forster or Gordon) and a target man (ideally Rhodes)...I think since Forrest picked up his injury we've missed an out-and-out winger.
