Was thinking of those lyrics myself earlier.

    Really sad.

Sitting here listening to some of their songs with tears in my eyes, such a shame for him to be feeling like that, what an amazing song writer and by all accounts a good human being too. I saw a post on twitter about how he sent a fan a hat with a lovely personal message to him.

Absolutely gutted about this. Very large lump in my throat listening to them today. I remember being recommend Midnight Organ Fight maybe 10 years ago, and loved them since. Lyrically and vocally one of the most passionate bands I'd heard. Makes listening to some of their stuff today all the more difficult.

    * sad. Talented guy by all accounts as well. Can’t say I’ve listened to them much but reading some of the lyrics, the guy was deeply troubled.

Had their tunes on all day.

Being out of the country, this (above), on Australian radio, would of been one of the first time I heard Frightened Rabbit.

Hearing "And next, a Scottish band" isn't something you hear much on Triple J (an Indy style Aussie radio station). Been here 8 years and heard it twice, FR and Chvrches. Always a bit of intrigue when you hear of a band from home, but I honestly loved this mob from the moment I heard that song. Pure class, went on to develop a real interest in them!

Gutted man. A real talented and successful man, it just goes to show..

    Tragic news.
Really felt for his family on the news last night. Such a shame.

    RIP

Let's have a night of Frightened Rabbit tracks.

Their appearances on KEXP were always great.

    This track is so touching.

    Some of the KEXP stuff.

I genuinely don't understand how they weren't more successul than they were.

Often find some of the best bands are the most humble and go about their business fairly quietly, so might not get as much publicity.

I can't put myself in that position to listen to their music yet...I'm so, so devastated by the news. He was easily one of the greatest lyricists that I've found and it almost seems inevitable for some cost to go so deep and be so introspective. Such a * shame. :54:

    Hopefully it helps raise awareness.

I've liked a few of their songs for a couple of years but for whatever reason I've never given the rest of their songs a listen. Certainly have some absolute crackers.

Listening to Floating in the Forth and taking in the lyrics is really tough now.

Sound like a more folky Scottish Snow Patrol. Not meant as an insult at all. Snow Patrol have had a few decent songs. But my heart goes out to the guys family. He just wasn’t meant to be here any longer, tortured souls don’t need to prolong agony. The root of the problem is to address social issues and the restructuring of neighbourhoods and housing. Not enough young guys comin out of the schemes or basic education schools with the push or motivation to believe in starting a band or contributing to young football clubs etc. Teachers in these places need retrained and sent in for terms with motivation the basis of their teaching. Instead how many times have you heard Mr Kennedy said I wouldn’t amount to nothing because I answered him back. Thats where the culture starts. The schools are set up to subdue our children and crush their spirits unless they are in the top 25% bracket. I don’t need to preach. Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England hoops fans on here know exactly what I’m talking about. It wasn’t the odd school. It is across the board. Now we have disIllusioned teenagers, drinking and drugging and robbing. Vicious circle stuck in ground hog day. And the easiest option is to make it all stop. Shameful days bhoys.

    I love this performance

    Wise words perhaps.
