Johnny English - Typical easy to watch family comedy. It would be utter mince if it were anyone other than Rowan Atkinson starring.

    Venom - 70-75%

for a film that is under 2hours, the setup was far too long and pointless. took a good 30-35minutes to get to the point that we all knew was coming - Eddie getting infected.
Then it got going quite well, kinda dark in some parts, but still managed to be family friendly on the whole, for my liking.
If they made the setup shorter and the action longer - and a better development of the relationship with Eddie and Venom - Venom just randomly decides to switch sides for what seems no reason - then it could have been better.

    A Simple Favour

Decent noir-ish comedy that slightly misses the mark, but at least tries to be something different. Anna Kendrick showing she can do more than just superficial light and frothy romcoms etc, even if her character is a bit characturish of exactly that, and it's this same quality which contributes (but not just this) to giving the film a bit of an uneven tone throughout.

    Johnny English Strikes Again

Pretty much what you expect, with Rowan Atkinson doing what he does. Got a few laughs along the way, among some pure silliness, but that's what you want from it. Still think the original Johnny English is the best of the bunch, and this was marginally better than JE Reborn, but you know what you are in for when going along to catch this flick.

Watched Django Unchained again. Wasn't as good as I remembered it, but still a great watch.

Am really glad that went to this in 4DX, with the seat vibration, movement and assorted attributes etc to heighten the sensations from the rocket sequences, because without them, I think I would have struggled to get through this film. Understand that it is the characteristics of being stoic and a man of little words, and underlined a number of the relationship issues that the main couple faced, but really without the enhanced nature of 4DX this really would have been a bit of a snoozefest. This is the first time I can genuinely say that this enhanced way of sitting through the film has made a noticable and telling difference to the film experience, as mostly consider this to be a bit of a gimmick, but here it worked.

    Bad Times at El Royale.

Very good film in the style of Pulp Fiction, in that it’s split up into non chronological chapters.

Yeah read that after I posted, won't be seeing it in 4dx, so a little concerned. Though reviews are excellent for it.

Think it will be a matter of deciding at the time what I go for.

Well, bare in mind, Im blind, so maybe it is visually brilliant, but I can't comment on that aspect, sorry. As for the dialogue wasnt much, and the story, even though its based on real events, wasnt particularly well told, IMO. Could easily have cut a good 1/2hr and still been too long.

Aye saw the run time as well, what is it 2hr 20mins?
Long watch, can imagine the 4dx would certainly help keep you feeling part of it all.

I'll pop back on after the film, think both start around 2:30 or 2:40 anyway, so got time and choices to be had.
