I only drink it at New Year and I always buy a bottle of Famous Grouse but I want to give J&B a try as I've heard it is very good.

    Wouldn't go that far..lol.

I'll take a tour of their distillery in Orkney this month, maybe change my mind.

It's the most northern distillery in Scotland, I'm getting into the Northern ones ATM - always had a preference for Speyside in the past.

The Islands can be a hit or a miss - Laphroig is minging! :icon_mrgreen:
Although tastes much better with a wee drop of water, to dampen the fire!

It's certainly a 'marmite' thing with Island whiskeys - Laphroig is definitely a bit much for me but most other Islands are fine. Talisker is a good 'mild' Island (despite not being from Islay!) to start out with.

If you get the chance - try an 18 year Highland Park :50:

My local does bushmills for £1.50 so been on that a while even though I'm not a big fan of Irish whiskey.

favourites are probably Grouse and Bells.

Jack Daniels is a pathetic excuse for a whisky

I like Jameson as well and bourbon is good once in a while, such as Maker's Mark. But I usually only drink those if there is no single malt scotch available.

I received a 15 yo Dalwhinnie for my 30th birthday, loved it. Balvenie is also quite nice and they serve it at a few of my favorite bars in Chicago.

:icon_mrgreen: Going to buy a bottle of whisky on my way home from work today. Thinking of trying Bunnahabhain as it was a suggestion from someone who I work with. Anyone here tried it before?

Jack Daniel's is not bourbon. To be considered a bourbon it must be produced in the state of Kentucky. JD is made in Tennessee.

Never knew that, new fact of the day at work next week.

My fave would have to be Bushmills and also enjoy a Jamesons now and again.
