    Have you read Peter Reid's book ? I think was his maternal family only moved to Liverpool after the Civil War. Yes he played for and gave his all for England but you get the impression he is very much a scouser long before he is English. Quite enjoyed it. Love the bit about his uncle at the Merseyside Derby.

    I haven't, but I do know he is quite proud of his Grandfather's role in the 1916 rising and he has certainly described himself as a Celtic fan. He has always come across a decent fella too, even if he does eat bananas with his feet.

    Came across his name in a book before and looked up to see if there was a connection. I found an article that suggested she was very proud of him and was looking at writing a book on him, if I remember rightly. Judging by how that article is written it feels like that is erroneous. It hardly matters though. She may even be upgrading him for the sake of her rebel credentials, I won't knock her for that!

    I am certainly not surprised she is a Celtic fan, given her background and politics, I just didn't think she had any interest in football. There is a version of her singing 'Perfect' in Irish knocking about on YouTube.
