    Mata whos never really fitted in at Man U actually done better for them, atleast chipped in with quite a few goals although also failed to really impose himself much and was also a liability defensively.

    Spurs have changed their manager about 20 times since Arsene's been at the Gunners and finally they landed their man while Arsenal have held firm and believed in patience and tradition while the modern game has swept past them in the shape of Bayern and changes of management in the league every year.

    Pochettino might not get far in the CL this year but what a team he's building out of a modest budget. If Spurs beat them in the final Arsenalfantv would just be a 4 minute warning multi broadcast.

    Well that's even worse, it only took them 10 managers to find the right one. Plus they sold Bale and Modric during that time

    Big fan of Wenger's early work but it's like he's turning into their Ronny. Can you imagine us getting beat 10 2 on aggregate? You think we'd be cool about it?

    10 permanent appointments since 96 is fairly modest by modern standards, and of those I'd say only Gross, Santini, Villas-Boas and Sherwood were demonstrably bad hires.

    Keeping hold of Bale was never a serious option for a club of Spurs' ambition at the time, they did well to maximise their asset. Unfortunately * a lot of that money away on the big replacement splurge but still got Real to pay over the odds.

    With Modric it was a case of let him go to Chelsea for 40 odd million or Real for 30 odd million, easy choice to make if credibility is a prime concern. They even got Real to release a lot of PR guff about some pie in the sky strategic partnership between the clubs, which iirc boiled down to agreeing to play a couple of friendlies. :giggle1:
