If Mancini is sacked we're *. Hopefully we get another "playing them at the right time" situation and they are focused on domestic football.

Doubt it. Think that's the last game till we play now so would be pretty pointless..

Also he'll be on ridiculous money out there..

I have so much going on just now that I forgot all about the draw today.

All things considered that is a decent draw. When you consider the teams we could have drawn and the fact the games against us will be their first competitive games in months then it looks pretty good.

We also have a decent record against Russian teams.

Some smart signings in January and we should be able to go into this with some confidence.

    Bring them on!

Don't like the draw. They are a quality side and not very attractive at all.

Happy with this. Their 3 month break could be a massive advantage to us. They may have been top scores in the group stage but they had the easiest group of all. Not the team they used to be

Its the equivalent of us drawing a * good side early in the qaulifiers. We should be fit as * and sharp vs there rust. Hopefully works in our favour. Weve got a great chance.

They are the best Russian club this season, according to a friend from Moscow, in the first half of the domestic league (which is far better than the Scottish) they finished in the second place.
There is a rule that starting line-up must have at least five domestic players (and there are nine foreigners). In the EL they were the best of all 48 teams looking at the performance only in the first half, but because of this rule they are only the sixth in the RPL on this issue.
They have an experienced coach Roberto Mancini, who doesn't need to talk much about
    [IMG]
and a big roster of quality players (I'll be more detailed about this on another occasion).
Especially good are playing at home (33-9-2 in european games), and at the time of playing the second leg match, their pitch will be frozen with the temperature below minus 10 degrees.
Gazprombank owns a club so that 85 million euros is not much for them.

The only things that are on our side so far:
    - one part of the stadium (the one behind the goal with the most fanatical fans - around 15k places) will be closed for the second leg game.
    - they played the last competitive game today, before going to the Celtic Park on 15 February, two weeks before continuing their domestic season.

P.S. I wanted to open a separate topic on Zenit or a match thread, but it's still very early so I let this go here.

I know what you're saying but I'd like to take our chances with Hummels and Godin :83:

I would probably rate us 40/60 in this tie. They are definitely the favourites but its not impossible.

strachan, Mowbray and lennon all came out on top against russian teams, rodgers should be relishing this tie

interesting thing to note, they got beat on away goals by anderlecht last year at last 32

Nobody said scottish league was better and don't think anyone actually thinks it is and first half season tables don't count season as a whole does

Going to be a very, very tough match.

This guy looks like Scott Brown with better technique and vision.

If we go into this tie with the team we have then I fear we will get pumped, maybe not PSG style but beaten well.

We are not good enough at the back or have a good enough keeper.
