Shocking decision to send off Virgil cost us we'd have gone through at the San Siro I reckon

Because we still had Forster at the start of the season and he had the No. 1 shirt. Gordon was originally going to be back up hence the 26.

Forster left after the Legia Warsaw debacle for Southampton and Craig Gordon is a more than suitable replacement. Gordon got the No. 1 the following season.

Was really excited about the prospect of Europa League football, but after watching that Anderlecht game I’m finding it hard to be positive.

I’m probably overreacting but I found that more disheartening that the pumpings from PSG.
It was our chance to show what we can do against teams ‘on a similar level’, we had a chance to stop our dismal home European record of late, we had a sold out parkhead in party mood, we had a huge advantage in terms of them needing 3-0, we should have been going out with a bit of swagger and confidence... then the players put in a performance like that.

If they can’t do it under those circumstances, then I’m not very confident about them doing it in the knockout stages of European competition, no matter who we get.

Hope the * I’m wrong though!

No easy ties here, looking forward to the draw though.

At the very least I'd add Sporting and Lazio to that list. Lazio is on good form - they've already beaten Juventus twice this year and also beaten AC Milan. Sporting is another CL 3rd place drop but did a lot better than us (7 pts) in a group with Barca, Juve, and Olympiacos - and they're undefeated in league play to boot. (Although of course it's fair to say that we should have picked up another 3 points on Matchday 6 vs Anderlecht, and that if we play like that in the Ro32, we'll lose to anyone we might get in the draw.)

Going on previous games I'd prefer home first. Looking at Anderlecht alone if we come back to CP with any kind of pressure we dont turn up. Home first against HBS and Astana we played with freedom and purpose.

Just as long as we avoid FC Progrès Niederkorn, they already put out the most successful club in the World so that is the one i want to avoid at all costs ;-)

From a travelling fans perspective there are in my view far more interesting trips in this competition than the CL, a trip to Bilbao would be good enough but to play in their new stadium would just top off what would be a fantastic trip. I've never watched a game in the Basque region but when I visited it a few years ago it was one of the very best places I've ever been...great people

Bilbao have always been a decent team but as far as I know they're not having their best season so that could be a good draw.
Be careful what you pray for and all that but you're right, both games would have an incredible atmosphere especially if we won at home first leg :100:

Hope they pitch the price of the tickets right. Think the fans deserve a break financially after paying to watch a pretty insipid group stage display in the CL
