That was Mowbrayesque from Lennon last night. First time I've genuinely been * with his tactics.

Can understand why he started with 451 but once it was clear that Sion were pish (and 451 wasn't working) why the * did he not change it? The subs were just as bad. When your desperate for a goal why take off the only two capable of actually getting us a goal.

If your not going to play Stokes up front then don't play him at all as we have better wingers in the team.

Catching the odd bit on the radio ('SAMARAS!!! And play breaks down AGAIN') was the best i could get last night so didn't see the game, just wondering, Lenny must see something in that formation, he experimented with it a few weeks back, was it just a total fail or signs it could come together with time or what?

Not a bad result considering we had our best player from every area of the park missing.

Our best LB, our best CB, our best CM and our best Striker.

Could have done better, thought we should have had a penalty and wee Maloney was unlucky with his free kick. All things considered I'm confident for next week. Hopefully Kayal and Hoopers back by then.

    * * yet again by Lennon, if he wasn't such an icon in so many supporters eye's, he'd be getting so much more stick. Now is the time to play some youth players, might aswell give them a chance, saying as though all we buy now are "players for the future"

Algthough the result/performance are disappointing, won't Sion be kicked out anyway? BBC text said they fielded 4 ineligible players.

reading the sion forum, they dont think much of us. saying we were massively overrated .
they seem confident of getting a result at home. they didnt think much of the atmosphere either

I might be overreacting but for some reason I believe with our 3 best players out (Emilio, Kayal, Hooper) we really look just like an ordinary side.

    agree, was very poor:54:

tbh a lot of teams would look ordinary if they had lost there 3 top player:50:

anyone know how long hooper and kayal are out for?

    * totally ruined my day this result, and probably the weekend aswell!

Of course we do, they three are our spine.

Last night was like Barcelona playing... Spurs, a full strength Spurs team except Barcelona don't have Puyol, Xavi, Abidal and Messi.

That's how important these players are to us. With Kayal back next week and K. Wilson next week as well I think you'll see a different Celtic.

The discrepancy of skill between a celtic side with and without the 3 listed above is so huge I could cry right now.

Of course any team is weaker without it's best 3 players, but I really doubt the discrepancy is anywhere near as big as ours.

Barcelona with Messi, Xavi, Iniesta - arguably best team ever.
Barcelona without MIX - still a very good side.

Celtic with Hooper, Emilio, Kayal - Best side team in Scotland.
Celtic without HEK - ordinary side.

still cant get my head round the tactics and more so the subs that were made last night brought on 3 wingers for our 3 most attacking players but with no strikers there is nobody to cross to. Playing the last 10-15 minutes in europe in a game you are trying to win without a striker on the park is shocking

Yup... we missed Kayal & Izzy. Hoops to a lesser extent, but I'll accept that.

Where we lost the game was in Lenny giving Sion FAR too much respect and changing our style of play completely! FFS... we do not play 4-5-1 at home against pish just because they are a Euro opponent!

Sammy getting his first game of the season in an important Euro qualifier... *!?

Stokes being played out wide in an important Euro qualifier... *!?

    If Lenny had started with...

    FORSTER

    CHA - DAN - CHUCK - LEDLEY

    FORREST - BROWN - KI - COMMONS

    SHAUN - STOKES

Then I have no doubt we would have won comfortably.

    ... and I don't even play Championship Manager! :icon_mrgreen:

One of the worst atmosphere I've seen at celtic park, the sion fans done well, seing them do that we should of all got on our feet and went crazy, but naw we seem to hide if others start singing.

it was one of them games ,wasnt going well first 20 min ,had no goal written all over it the way we played, also couple that with the loss of key players and you have a nervy crowd not knowing wot to expect .

I don't believe that was the reason for lastnights result though. We have enough in our team to have beaten them but at least 3 players being played out of position and playing 1 up front was the main contributers to a flat performance.
Yes if those 3 players were playing we more than likely wold have won, but I think we should have done more.
