You're kidding right? It was Izzy's perfect cross to Commons that got us into the play-offs

The pitch was a new style of artificial, not the same type we'd played well on in the past. Plus it was horribly uneven.

Don't look too much into that performance. Good ball players like Ledley and Commons don't lose their touch overnight.

Aye it was the worst astro turf id seen in a real game of football. If looked like it was a carpet, the astro turf in Spartak Moscow's stadium is probably the best around, that one last night looked shocking in comparison.

Regardless, he's the kind of player who can pop up with a cross that completely destroys a defense, even if he's having a bad game. And as the 3rd qualifying round proved, it can be the difference between progression and being knocked out.

i thought izzy stuck to his task as a defender and played alright but him and the rest of the defence were't the bad players last night that was the midfield and attack who done * all in an attacking sense

we looked worse than a sunday league team last night

i dont understand how time after time right through the whole game no player could recieve a pass and shield it and lay it off to build attacks

was their pressing of us into our own half soooooo goooood ???

its amazing we got through this tie

and for people saying the never got near to scoring what about that corner where the ball was bobbing about in our penalty area 2nd half ? it seemed to rebound off of foster leg and bounced back out into the penalty area before getting cleared, if that had gone in we'd be no doubt out of tournament and be thoroughly emabrrased by that performance

That's actually quite surprising to read. We will be favourites no matter who we draw next. I'm sure we will make the group stages again at least.

So you'd expect us to be knocked out if we drew Shakhter Karagandy? :smiley-laughing002: Bookies will have us strong favourites for that one.

We've yet to concede a goal in 4 qualifiers, it's not a disaster. Last night was a one-off and I don't expect a performance that poor again all season.

see this kinda talk gets me going

we have performed like this before in europe more than a few occasions down the years

last night was not a one off!!!

there is a reason a team, a celtic team can go out to play away in europe and not string more than a couple of passes together!!! therefore as a result allowing the opposing team to continually swamp and dominate you like elfsborg done last night

As mentioned, it was undoubtedly the worst European performance since Sion 2 years ago. Our away form has generally been very good since then. We'll surely have some new signings in for the Play-Off, and Big Virgil will be back.

If we draw Karagandy I'll be * delighted.

We will get to the groups no doubt its just how well we will do, We have sold our best Defender, Midfielder and Attacker, some of the players seem to have stagnated eg Forrest, Kayal, Emilio, so unless we sign a few players to take the overall quality of the team to a new level I don't see us improving from within, by that I mean being good enough to beat a team like Barcelona not being * the whole season! without replacements for guys like Wanyama, Wilson and Hooper to take us to that next level I think we could be done a few times in the groups

i think the performace stems from the fact that the manager emphasised not losing a goal as paramount aka (playing for a 0-0 draw)

this caused the defence to play very deep and the longer the game went on the deeper they played, this in turn made the midfield play deeper and the strikers
this then led to our flair players trying to beat a man in our own half as that is where we were being pressed and they had very little support from the brown or ledley
