Yup listening now, Yorke's signed on a 2 year deal! And Paul McVeigh could follow him in!

In other news Alex Rae is out for 8 weeks :icon_mrgr

According to the Celtic website he isn't signed yet, and they just want to get him on the remainder of his blackburn contract!!

I think we could use another midfielder like McVeigh

And a few more defenders Arca and Pressley

on the BBC website it said that Arca is supposedly up at CP for talks but Mick McCarthy said he will be there for his match with Reading

    Celtic chase top-class pair

Celtic are chasing the signatures of veterans Marcel Desailly and Dwight Yorke ahead of the transfer deadline.

BBC Sport believes that Celtic manager Martin O'Neill offered the Desailly, who left Chelsea in the summer, a contract on Tuesday afternoon.

Celtic have confirmed that Blackburn's Yorke has arrived in Glasgow for talks.

A Celtic statement said: "We have been given permission to speak to the player with a view to taking over the remainder of his contract."

The 32-year-old former Trinidad & Tobago international, who has had a stormy recent relationship with Rovers manager Graeme Souness, could cost about £500,000 from the English club.

But Yorke could complete Celtic's search for another quality striker.

Manager Martin O'Neill lost Henrik Larsson to Champions League opponents Barcelona at the end of his contract during the summer.

And Henri Camara has so far failed to impress during his loan spell from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Yorke, previously with Aston Villa, joined Blackburn from United for £2m in 2002 and had a year of his contract to run.

But he has not found the net in his four appearances in the English Premiership this season and has lost his place to Scotland international Paul Dickov.

He came off the substitutes' bench for Rovers against former club Manchester United on Saturday.

Celtic insist that reports that Yorke had already signed a three-year deal were untrue.

O'Neill is aware that he needs another experienced defender ahead of the Champions League campaign and believes that former France captain Desailly fits the bill as a possible partner for Bobo Balde.

Desailly, released by Chelsea at the age of 34 after the arrival of Jose Mourinho, captained his country to their World Cup success in 1998 and was an integral part of the side that went on to win the European Championship two years later.

O'Neill could sign the free agent after the transfer deadline but wants an answer on Tuesday evening in case he needs to switch his attentions to another target.

The Scottish champions have also been linked with Sunderland full-back Julio Arca and there have been unconfirmed reports that he too was at Celtic Park for talks.

But the English Championship club's manager, Mick McCarthy, insisted that the £1m-rated 23-year-old Argentine would be in his team for Tuesday night's meeting with Reading.

Very intresting that, Marcel would add a bit more experience to our defence and has been proved at the highest level! Not too sure whether he'd start but still, a bit of cover never hurt! Would have preferred to see Arca here as hes a lot younger.

Why not bring them both in?

Since Marcel is on a free

Just heard another rumour on talksport that * Sagnol is at CP in talks! Some of these rumours must be pish, apparently we've had about 10 different players at CP today discussing a move!

Arca is 23 and would be a great signing but it won't happen if he is playing in tonight's game

I hope we get atleast 3 players in tonight

I can see Yorke definetly coming in tonight with Desailly & McVeigh as possibilities. Cant see Arca, Pressley, Sagnol or any of the other names being mentioned coming in. I still suppose that Arca could get a deal done before 12 seeing as he could be out of the Madjeski by 10, plane up to Glasgow etc.. But it is unlikely.

There is no rush with the Desailly deal as he is a free agent
