Agreed lad's. Good thing is having well known English boy's coming up and doing well, and not only that but loving their time here. Encourages other's..

Roberts and Sinclair are flair player's from the Epl who kid's like Solanke will have been watching beforehand and this year and admiring them at some point or another..

Having a good man manager and attacking coach will also further enhance that..

Honestly I always wondered why we don't sign up quality British youngsters struggling to get game time at big clubs from England, it's nice to see change on that.

yeah, i mean it's not like we dont have any current players (of the season) who struggled to get game time as a youngster at chelsea

Solanke right now is much closer to a Leigh Griffiths than a Sinclair or Roberts. He can certainly play on the wing, but he won't stretch the defense deep while posing the same cut-inside threat that Sinclair and Roberts currently do. If we sign him, it'll be as a center forward, but his versatility is certainly a big bonus. And he is two-footed, as noted earlier in this thread.

Unfortunately, the big question is whether the board is willing to spend the money at all. The relative value of a discounted transaction (versus what English clubs would have to pay) doesn't matter if the board doesn't want to spend even the discounted value. An effective £6m transfer fee (to sweeten up our contract offer by £20,000-a-week) might be something some English clubs would jump at, but whether our board would be willing to spend even that on Solanke is a different matter. Especially when we have the bigger issue of how to replace Patrick Roberts.

Even if other EPL teams are in for him we are more attractive given our recent history of young players improving here playing CL football and moving to EPL a better player.

The difference is we didn't sign Sinclair when he was a youngster which is what that post alluded to.

    yes, that is a difference.

but the post implied that it isn't worth signing a youngster who struggles to get game time at a "big" club in england, presumably because they wont be good enough here, when actually that's not necessarily true

Read today that Leipzig are after him now they have qualified for the CL...hope not as they would be quite attractive to him I'd imagine. Still hope he ends up here though, reckon he would be real class.

UEFA will block leipzig from playing in Europe as both them and Salzburg are owned by red bull therefore as champions red bull will play in Europe

That's what the rules dictate, but UEFA will get a nice wee backhander from Redbull and they will be allowed in.

They'll find a loophole, like it will be different divisions of Redbull, so ther will be no conflict of interest or some bollocks like that.

Thought this is exactly what's been done already. A high up director is the "owner" so it's different owners or some pish like that.

It doesn't just cover owners, but major shareholders as well. It doesn't really make a difference though as I am certain they'll find a way to get them in.
