Just because we have the biggest of derbies doesnt devalue others. Probably means alot to the locals or something

Spurs v Arsenal seems * to me as well seen a good few games over the years in that one but the atmosphere for supposed bitter rivals is horrendous.

The EPL hasn't had a must see rivalry since the Arsenal v Man U games from 98-2005, it wasn't a derby but it felt like one, had great players who hated each other managers fighting big characters memorable moments and both teams knowing defeat usually meant losing the title, arsenal v man u these days is just another game means * all.

growing up i didn't really understand all that well the political, social and religious connotations of Celtic/rangers, but it didn't make the derbies less intense, some of my best derby memories were the 2002/03 season, both teams were very good that year and thats what made it such an event at a young age

alot of people who watch el classico don't necessarily know or care that barcelona and real madrid represent different things politically, its more the fact they are the two biggest and best sides from spain

Although I never actually got in as I didnt have a ticket or membership card Millwall-West Ham is the only derby down south that has the same sort of edge to it as in Glasgow, never really understood it until I went, I never saw a West Ham fan all day yet I could still cut the atmosphere outside with a knife, what I could hear coming from inside once the game had started was pure evil, there’s a bad history going back to the days of the dockers which they don’t seem to be able to ditch despite both clubs now playing elsewhere etc

The big Premiership ones are mainly all * as the fans in most cases don’t even live in the city to be part of the everyday banter, I’ve been told Pompey-Southampton and Swansea-Cardiff are good ones however.

I’ve been to Dortmund-Schalke which was a brilliant one but the Belgrade Derby is the one to go out your way to see, it’s sensational and anything is likely to happen at any given moment but in fairness the Rome Derby is not too far behind but in recent years has sadly been hit by fan boycotts etc due to policing.

I've done that game at the old West Ham ground. The tube is eventful as it passes all their area's on the district as you're getting taken from embankment but most of the stops they're no allowed to get on from polis..

To do with the dockers correct and always been a south east/east London rivalry from gang's/villains and inevitably spilled in to football..

Also a lot of Millwall fan's live on the Isle of Dog's and the area Millwall there as well which is in East London and right in and next to their majority West Ham area's back in the day..

Probably get a few laughs but I loved the Wrexham/Chester derby, Or as Wikipedia calls it, the Cross- Border Derby.
Bearing in mind both languish in non league obscurity with Chester about to be relegated, if not liquidated....... for the 2nd time (mmmm where have I heard that before . . . . )
    10 miles apart.
    Ones Welsh, Ones English.
Poor v Rich, industrial town versus tourist City.
Gets around 8k at the Racecourse ground but it as a higher police/fan ratio than most high risk games, around 1 officer per 19 fans in recent games.
Only this season bubble restrictions were lifted on away fans & was once played in the 90’s on a normal working weekday with a noon kick off to combat trouble.
Even the Chester town clock only has three faces on it, the side facing Wales is blank as they didn’t even want to give the Welsh ‘the time of day’..... And there used to be a bye law where the locals could shoot a Welshman caught within the city Walls after midnight. And theres the village outside Chester nicknamed Burnt Town in days gone bye as the Welsh raiders used to burn it down so often. Chester *!

As is Forrest and Derby, both can get let’s say more than heated.
