We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
    'Cause your friends don't dance
    And if they don't dance
Well, they're no friends of mine

Speak and Spell is a fabulous debut album. Pure synth pop. Not just one good song. Music for the Masses and Violator were both good too.

Good band definitely underrated when it comes to the mainstream.

I'm gonna add The Band to this, pretty much killed psychedelia in the 60's when they released Music from big pink in 1968 just look at the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, two prime examples of the influence The Band had on music at that time, McCartney even gave the Band a shout out when the Beatles played Hey Jude live and the Stones give a name check/parody to Big Pink on the cover of Beggars Banquet and Eric Clapton was desperate to join The Band when he chucked Cream.

Loved............ New Life, Enjoy the silence, Personal Jesus, See You and many other cracking songs, one of the best synth bands to emerge from the early 80's.

Never let me down again. Especially live with the crowd involved, like PJ. Great atmosphere.

I hate Depeche Mode, but i dont really think they are underrated, as they have a huge world wide following and have been very successful.

They seem to be huge in Japan if I remember correctly. I've never really followed their music and tbh wouldn't have given them a second thought until we started singing JCGE.

I should edit that post. I dont 'hate' them, but in the 80s i thought their music was predictable, amateurish and staid. With the passing of time, i have softened my view of them......and dont think they are too bad.

Are they really 28 exclamation points and 36 question marks good though?

A couple of good tunes, but with so much synth it just ends up sounding cheap.
