To be fair that's not a completely accurate measure of how solid he is. He's been bailed out on many occasion by a team-mate or poor conversion by the opposition. Naismith at Tynecastle being the latest example.

    The guy's a bombscare.

    I disagree.

In my opinion he’s our best out and out defender. I don’t think people appreciate how often he’s the one who’s clearing headers from crosses and set pieces. The guy sticks his head on everything.

Aye his passing is a weak part of his game but it’s definitely over exaggerated imo.

In all honesty I’m still gutted if the Fulham thing was true.

He is Efe mark II, not gonna really miss the * and wages off the books as well come the summer.

Decent defender, average (at best) footballer with some impressive physical attributes. Been decent for us this season when he's screwed the nut but still a snake who will be offski at end of season. Meh.

Thought apart from his mistake against Aberdeen he was our best defender and ball winner all game. Ajer was good too but Boyata won many important challenges and deserved the man of the match award.

He’s been our most consistent and a best defender all season. I doubt that’s even up for dispute

If it was purely based on footballing ability, I'd be desperate to keep him. He's very far from average defending. Very far indeed. It's true he's a bit of a bombscare playing out from the back; but we'll get away with that domestically and I doubt Lenny will have us doing that in Europe.

In fact he's exactly the kind of player Lenny could build a "tough to beat" team around for Europe.

Of course it's not just about ability and there is still the question of what happened last August, so my feelings are mixed.

I would still keep him. Decent defender who's an aerial threat from set pieces, which is a bit of a novelty act these days tbf. He won't be asked to pass it out from the back at all costs under Lennon either.

Downing tools was unacceptable, but the more that's come out about BR's conduct since he left, the more understandable it's become that certain players have jumped at the chance of leaving. Had he gone to Fulham for the reported sum on offer, I think most would've wished him well.

It's all a moot point as he's definitely off.

I hear what you mean about what happened last August although that whole situation is a little less black and white for me against Boyata now that we know Rodgers was lying to us himself.
But on pure football I would be delighted if Boyata ended up signing a new deal and staying. It does not look likely and we should plan accordingly but I would be very happy if he was still a Celtic player and had signed a new deal heading into next season.

We've all dived (er, dove? diven*?), er, we've all been a bit too quick to dive in with Rodgers. Many of us, including me, thought the sun shone out of his * and we now find out he's a selfish bullshitter and there are rumours that he may be an out and out liar. However the jury's still out on that one. Sometimes we're too black and white on here: we now know that Rodgers is definitely not the good guy he likes to portray himself as; that doesn't mean we should assume he's an irredeemable *.
Admittedly it does cast doubt on last August, which is why I've gone from being sure Boyata is a * to still thinking he is but not being sure at all.

Having said that, based on football alone, I 100% agree with you.

    * obviously "diven" was just a joke to cover my embarrassment at not knowing if it was "dived" or "dove".
