Nah, I don’t agree with that after his mistake at Ibrox you can tell he was told to keep it simple even put it out of play if need be..

In Europe where possession is everything tho he’s just not got it, same with Gordon.. when pressed he can’t be used as an option which is a fundamental issue with the BR wants the game played against the best opponents.

A defender who is both solid at basic defending skills and passing is very pricey. Thus, I think Rodgers needs to scrap that strategy. Belgium can unite ball-playing defenders one would normally have to pay big money for. one big, bulky brute isn't an issue for them.

Celtic aren't so fortunate, and something has to give. The strategy, or the transfer funds.

It’s no good defending well for most of the game and then gifting the opponent a gilt-edged chance - certainly not at the highest level.

I’ll never feel comfortable with him at the back when it really matters.

I can live with the odd defensive error - mistiming a challenge, losing a runner, etc. - but a centre-half shouldn’t be losing possession in his own third under little or no pressure, whether he’s considered a ball-playing centre-half or not; they’re football players at the end of the day.

The team with the most possession normally wins. He was obviously using ‘everything’ idiomatically.

If you have the ball the other team can’t score.. and that’s how BR plays..

Thats a very simple way of looking at it. Possesion in the opposing final third maybe. Both CL finalists and the europa league winners would certainly agree anyways.

Theres alot alot more to it than that because you will never have the ball for 90 minutes.

LAZIO have offered a deal to Celtic ace Dedryck Boyata, according to reports in Italy.

Il Messaggero claims the Serie A giants are willing to pay the Belgian defender – starring for his country at the World Cup – £1.3million a year AFTER TAX.

    hmmm tapping up a player!

It’s fine I’m sure the SFA will raise the issue for us. :87:

Of course there is, but when your defenders are the ones who have the most possession in a match they need to be able to accurately pass the ball, especially in Europe where there are less options and you get punished for your mistakes..

BR wants everyone to be brave on the ball and take responsibility, Boyata just isn’t good enough.. and BR doesn’t play with a deep lying playmaker who can come and take a short pass from the defenders.

For me Boyata is a decent defender when asked to defend, like Gordon is a decent shot-stopper but that’s not enough for the way BR sets out his team and it’s a major flaw in our makeup.. a flaw that along with basic errors has cost us in Europe.

Broony takes that role on to a degree.

Aye sometimes but I wouldn’t describe him as a ‘Playmaker’.. my point is tho you shouldn’t have to alter tactics to accommodate a defender who lets face it a lot of time has no clue what to do with the ball when he gets it..

So if we give them the ball all the time, gift them easy possesion through shoddy passing, we should win easy?

    Hendry isn’t his replacement.
