Terrible for giving away that penalty. What was he thinking!? Tackling cleanly in the box. A professional defender thinking he's allowed to do that. Mental.

When he has time on the ball is when I worry.

Defensively he has great qualities but needs someone solid and more comfortable on the ball next door to him.

Great defender no doubt, on the ball he worries me. Clear, we need to spend big on a CB in January..

There has been improvement in his game, but yet again today he gave the ball away in dangerous areas.

That performance today was every bit as bad ,nothing to do with giving away a pen falling over in midfield just before it was classic efe, jogging back to put in a halfhearted attempt to stop a cross ,nowhere to be seen for the second , pathetic

    Thought he played well overall.

One poor touch at the half way line and he was punished for it by a very poor/dodgy refereeing decision.

In hindsight he shouldn't have risked making the tackle but I can understand why he did, being eager to make up for his initial error.

Whether he should or shouldn't have risked it is irrelevant though as it was a great tackle and be won the ball 100%. Terrible officiating.

His defending, heading, tackling, reading the game and such is good but with the ball at his feet he a bombscare. The pen was obviously the wrong decision but it all came from him being caught in possession in the middle of our half. He just needs to stick to the defending and stop thinking he's Beckenbauer.

I see so much Efe in him at times. If he cuts out the bull * he could be a good player.

I would still be looking to bring in two centre halfs in the window. Jozo is outstanding but he is so prone to injuries.

The mistake he made he made up for instantly and the ref * him.

I thought he played well personally.

Think people tend to have missed him umpteen times with the ball, looking for the simple pass and shouting to * to move and give him options.

Clearly they did not and that's when he was having to come forward with the ball more often.

Defenders in a Celtic/Rodgers team HAVE to be comfortable and productive in possession, AND capable of remaining composed when exposed in 1-1's when inevitably opponents counter attack.

Boyata was unfortunate with the pen decision, because his recovery, positioning and timing of challenge looked pretty good.

However his ball retention which proceeded the challenge, still obviously needs to improve.
He can obviously cope if playing back or across the pitch, but to often his passes or drives into midfield look hesitant or lead to turnovers.

It might help DB to study how VVD played in the SPL to see how it's done.

A wee error, after a string of outrageously solid performances he had no right to produce. Give him a break, I think the fact he looked more comfortable against Anderlecht than Hibs proves it’s more down to his defensive partner...
