He did well at times then kept * up, give him a bit of leeway though he wasn't the only one missing easy passes, everyone was at it with that * surface. Obviously he doesn't have much confidence or match sharp at this level.

Still surprised he played. Might be more of a challenge to O'Connell if he's not doing it in training and saying if he doesn't buck up then he'll be sent to Killie on loan.

He was rotten and it wasn't all down to the surface.

Probably the most baffling of a very random team selection.

There is a defender in there and he was rated by Brown when we signed him.

Balde's distribution was just as bad for us, if not worse, and he still did ok.

Balde was a beast though. He'd win pretty much every header and went through anyone coming towards him. Boyata looks so uneasy and uncomfortable. Decent player but not up to the job at celtic.

All true, but looking forward, I personally wouldn't want Balde at Celtic now (great defender though he was). For me ball-playing CB's like Denayer and Virgil are the future of the game.

I should have clarified that in no way was I comparing their defensive ability, just their distribution. :56:

There is no way we should be comparing Balde to Boyata.
Sure Balde could be slack sometimes with his passes but his clearing headers out of the box was something else.
Boyata can only dream of becoming another Balde, because he dozen't have the same mentality and durability of Bobo.

Shouldn't play for us again. He can't be trusted.

I'd rather see McCart or O'Connell get a game.

In fairness to him the one thing boyata can do right consistently is headers and winning arial duals

I think the same. Im surprised at some of the comments here. He made a few errors in his first game this season on a plastic away pitch. We still kept a clean sheet he couldn't have been that bad. As a 4th choice centre back I say he could be a decent option if he gets some game time. He's hardly Efe Ambrose.

Ambrose is a far better CB than Boyata.

Your short memory is clearly getting in the way here because in Ambrose's first two seasons here he was a very solid and reliable defender in 90-95% of the matches he played.

ANDERLECHT are weighing up a swoop for forgotten Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata, who appears to have no future under Brendan Rodgers.

The Belgian international has become a peripheral figure under the former Liverpool manager and has started just one game all season, in November against Kilmarnock.

And homeland giants Anderlecht have discussed trying to get Boyata either on loan or as a permanent move this month to return to the club in the city where he was born.

Boyata still has two and a half years left of his Hoops contract, but the emergence of Jozo Simunovic and Erik Sviatchenko, as well as the signing of Kolo Toure has relegated him to a bit-part player at Parkhead.

And the 26-year-old stopper would be interested at the chance of a return home if the Brussels club came up with an attractive offer.

Looked decent in the games alongside Virgil. A nervous wreck since then.

Knowing our luck he'd go to Anderlecht and end up gettin sold for £15m to a bottom half mob in England.

We could try but the * would still find a way to wriggle back in till his contracts up in the summer.
