Discuss Cristian Gamboa in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.
Unlikely to get another chance before his contract expires.
Don’t think he was used enough to be consistent and was usually thrown in against European opponents.
Shame how it turned out cause I thought he had a good attitude
Good luck to him
Genuinely forgot he was still here
Wallace Duffy plays right back for the reserves..
Despite not being good enough to start every game, he had his career severely hampered because the Traitor did not like him. If a Lustig in seriously bad form was unavailable, he would change the tactical system to that 3-6-1 that never worked or do something more ridículous such as Hendry in the RB position. All of this due to a pathetic tantrum by the Judas because he wanted to defend his national team in an important competition instead of sitting in the bench at those european early qualifiers.
Didnt work out but all the best to the lad. Always had a good attitude and surely is good enough for the championship or somewhere else.
Another one if Rodgers took a dislike
To you that was it your *!
Thought he was excellent vs Rosenberg in the qualifiers and away at thistle in the cup the. Dropped for Mika
Christian the rat went out that door
Celtic fringe man Cristian Gamboa has been offered a return to his homeland of Costa Rica.
The full-back has been presented with a deal by Deportiva Alajuelense.
Gamboa has never managed to establish himself at Celtic and made just 16 league starts in his three years at the club. He last featured for Celtic in a 1-1 draw at Motherwell in December.
The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and the former West Brom, Rosenborg and FC Copenhagen stopper is certain to move on.
And he's been offered a return to Costa Rica by 29-times champions Deportiva Alajuelense.
Gamboa left Costa Rica nine years ago, ironically after being rejected by Deportiva Alajuelense, where he had a trial.
He's won 70 caps for his country, but failed to ever nail down a regular spot at Celtic, where he was usually back-up to Mikael Lustig , who also looks set to leave Glasgow this summer.
Gamboa has scored just one goal in his club career - for Norwegian club Fredrikstad eight years ago, but has netted three for his country.
16 starts in 3 years is nothing short of a disaster.
One of the many negative aspects of the RAT's era.
No one embarrasses Anton and gets away with it HH
Should have been given a bigger shot. At times his pace was needed. Not saying he at all is the answer, but by * he was probably more deserving than a waste of a jersey that Toljan has become (hindsight and all).
29, still time for the lad to actually enjoy a few years of regular football.
Forgot all about him
Ah well, he coulda been a somebody.
Don't always work out I guess.
It became evident early on that he wasn't good enough. Decent pace, but his positional awareness is really poor and can't put in a decent cross when needed most of the time. Good luck to him though, he's been very professional when here and never sulked or complained in public, always a big smile on his face.
Bit like Toljan too then lol
Well so could anyone! You took my dreams from me.
Toljan's no upgrade on Gamboa, that's for sure. Poor scouting on both of them.
