Craig Gordon

I had wanted Bain to play.. thought Gordon didn't have match fitness.

However, looking at the way the match played out i am glad we had Gordon in goal for while i think Bain is a good keeper i am not sure if Bain would have the concentration level when we were so dominant.

Must be hard for a keeper to stay focused when so completely out of the game.. and Bain has probably never experienced that. Really hope Bain is signed this summer and him & Gordon learn from each other and push each other to higher standards. Nice wee problem for Brendan to have

Puts the team under pressure with his kicking, hope Bain is back in next week but I can’t see it

 

He had been good for a free, but his time has come and he needs moved on.

 

Shocking yet again.
Distribution and his kick out was horrible. Then the ball comes across and inside his six yard boxes, let's it fly by him a yard away. Then doesn't make an effort to save.

Again for the second what is he doing?

Would love to go back through all goals conceded this season and I get between him and boyata they are the most common two for * ups that shouldn't happen

 

Said it last week I thought it was really harsh on Bain getting dropped for Gordon, he didn't put a foot wrong and for me was a lot calmer with the ball at his feet and commanded the box better at corners. Gordon's distribution gives me the absolute fear, and worse I think it does the same to our players.

 

Time for Bain to come back in.

Rodgers was keen to bring him back for the huns last week, can't see him dropping the donkey for next week unfortunately.

He should never have been in last week or this.

Rodgers (and our) down fall is going to be this * up loyalty to Gordon - and boyata.
They are the two weakest parts of the entire squad and have been for the better part of the two years.

Get him to * already. He lets us down too often and really is not good enough for the step up to Europe.

As @bhoy81 says, good for a free and all credit to him recovering from his injury. But time to get this sympathy to * and think of the club as a whole.

 

The defence is bad enough and Gordon creates more uncertainty. His distribution is woeful.

That pass from him at the first goal was absolutely criminal. Has to either play it short or long not inbetween. That ball puts a huge amount of pressure on Hendry to make a very good touch and the Hibs players are right on him and then they are right through.

Bain didn’t take any chances with his distribution which I really liked about him. I felt confident with him in goals whereas Gordon and DDV don’t give me that confidence. From what we seen of Bain overall he was the most reliable and ‘safe’.

Gordon is capable of pulling of some fantastic saves as shown against the huns last week but for such an experienced keeper he makes some inexcusable mistakes. Costs us so many goals and chances that we shouldn’t need too.

 

Plays a blinder then a shiter, typical Gordon.

 

Brilliant goalie, for some reason overplays it more than tge other 2 though which can pur us under pressure.

 

The way he stands about or saunters when he’s given the ball infuriates me.

Tries to be way too cool when he hasn’t the skillz

 

Still don't understand how a professional footballer of 20 years can't pass the ball more than 10 yards

 

Easy. Play as a normal goalkeeper where you punt it for 15+ years and be asked to become a new age fancie pass the ball keeper. Guy over thinks it. Thats where naturally bains better at that part of his game. Younger and has grown up with the new coaching that a goal keeper passes.

 

I get that, but then a few folk go on to claim that he is forced to do this stupid pasisng game and it's not his fault. Yet when Bain or DeVries come in, they quite happily resort to long balls when the danger is on.

A team like Hibs press us high, 9/10 I want to see the keeper kick it long to remove that danger. Unfortunately for Gordon, he is woeful at short passing and long kicks.
Add to the fact he can't collect a ball on his 6 yard line and gets beat way too easy at times. We need better.

He simply put, is not good enough.

 

Aye let's get rid of him and bring in Vorm, aye right, lol.
