He should be doing better with the first goal. Beaten at his near post once again. McGregor was the biggest culprit though by not tracking his man, and O'Connell didn't cover himself in glory either. It was just a poor goal all round to lose.

On the plus side I thought his kicking and throwing were stronger last night.

He still worries me with his lack of confidence; taking a pass-back and 'owning' the 6 yard box.
If BR can find a way to help Craig to become stronger mentally, I am sure his kicking and assertiveness will improve.

I have looked at both those goals again and I am thinking Gordon should have saved both of them.

He needs to find his A game, been pretty erratic for a while now yes he is still making some top class saves but the errors need to be reduced.

Personally I think he was weak for both of the goals

Yes, both were within his area of reach, he wasnt tight enough to the near post for the first and looked slow to react or surprised with the second one- it almost seemed to go under him. A strong foot would have kept the second one out

No way can you fault him for the second goal, was a bullet of a shot and went through two of our players, he never saw it until it was too late.

    Agreed on all points.
I thought his distribution was better last night, his save at the end was pivotal, but if I was manager I would be looking at him keeping them two out.
He also needs to up the communication with his defenders and become more vocal.
And a little bit of extra goalkeeping tuition on the near post wouldn't go amiss too by the goalkeeping coach.

    .
Thought it went under his body so he obviously seen it, how late I don't know.

He should have kept the first out but their second was some strike.

I'd be very nervous next week should this bombscare start in the return leg.

Keeper should never be beaten at his front post, he is blameless for the 2nd.

    I wouldn't.

Poor for the first but it was those in front of him who allowed it to come about, I wouldn't class it as one of his bombscare moments.

The 2nd is a bit of a bullet hit right across the ground and through two of his players. Blameless.

Then makes a good save to keep them from scoring a third and really putting us in * creek.

If we lose this from here, being 3 goals up, there will be more than just Gordon to blame.:smiley-laughing002:

I might be in the minority here but I think it would actually be riskier to chuck De Vries behind a defence he doesn't know, 6,000 miles away, in a hostile atmosphere and humid conditions, when he is just back from an ankle injury, in a crucial CL play-off. :56:

    Nah I'm with you.

Gordon doesn't fill me with confidence, but chucking in De Vries wouldn't be wise.

I agree with you. Would rather he gets a few games under his belt before chucking him in to a game like that, also is just back from injury aswell.
