    It would certainly be an unpopular opinion amongst the political classes. Given that so much of Scotland still votes Labour, the general public associate Dewar with the setting up of the Scottish Parliament and the fact that there is a statue of him slap bang in the middle of Glasgow, I'd imagine it would be an unpopular view with much of the general public too.

    I guess your right. I was just thinking about this today walking past the grotesque over the top statue at Buchanan Galleries. :99:

    To be honest though, my generation probably have no clue who he is, never mind what he did.

    To be honest mate, I think very few people know what he did. I only found out about it myself when somebody posted a link on here pointing out what he was involved in. It changed my perception of him immediately. Before I found out about his role in secretly handing our oil over to London I would have said he was a good guy if anyone had asked me for my opinion of him.
