Never thought of it like that

I defer to your reasoning. also, he looks aggressive enough in the other box so that supports what you are saying

Absolutely bang on. How can John Kennedy not explain this to him?

That’s how I see it too. He gets caught up in winning the physical battle when he comes up against a strong centre forward. He usually does, but on occasions like today he didn’t.

When he’s not getting the best of it he just goes for it more and more, when sometimes it would be better for him to give the striker a half yard and then use his size to win the ball back.

100% agree mate with all of that. We’ve seen it time and time again with Doidge, Dykes, Morelos and now today. He’s simply not strong enough at the moment to physically dominate these type of players. He plays into their hands when he gets sucked in to that game.

Take him at Ibrox this season, wasn’t even interested in battling Morelos, just read the game and made the right call at the right time. On the contrary, as I mentioned, he got sucked in to the physical game against that wee bawbag at Parkhead and gave away fouls because he was so tight.

Big man has the capabilities to be a much better player than what he is. Some of it will come with experience and some of it will come with bulking up.

Can see him hitting double figures this season. Scored some massive goals, Ajer should take note

Brilliant finish! Still unsure of him defensively though.

A lot of prem clubs will be in for him in summer. Great professional , really impressed me today he's getting better. Was all over shop but weathered the storm and turned it around. He scores big goals. That surface if you kick it 50.,yards it bounces up rather than bounces on, he found that difficult

Good goal but he looked a bomb scare at times.

He didn’t track his man well enough for their goal but I’d say ajer stupid clearance was the biggest bomb scare of the day

Popped up with a few massive goals for us and the finish was superb today. I worry defensively when he comes up against a physical striker though. It doesn't matter how limited the striker is, if he is big and powerful they always seem to get joy out of both Jullien and Ajer. The best way to deal with guys like Ikpeazu and the guy today is to let them win the first ball and ask them to then do something with it. Don't get involved in a battle, it's exactly what they want.

At no time has Morelos won an overall physical battle vs Julien in a match.

Defensively we havnt been the best, but we havnt been in a crisis either. Theres been a lot of changes at full back and formationally, so thats bound to cause disruption. some of the criticism aimed at Julien is nonsense. He wins the majority of aerial duels he goes into and He was heroic in the cup final as well, again when morelos was shut out. He also has given us an added threat from set pieces which we have not had in a long time.

At 26/27 and at 6’6 i dont imagine we will see Julien “bulk up” too much and he already has a lot of experience playing at a high level in france.

lyndon dykes gave Julien a tough time, but livi scored through ajer dribbling into trouble and losing the ball in the midfield with celtic down to 10 and then from a long ball from the keeper and ajer getting caught underneath and fykes running in behind.

Any opposition manager is going to say let’s put a * big battering ram of a striker on him, he’s noing to like that. He knows what’s coming now, he will learn to deal with it.
