I believe this as well if we have elhamed fit ajer jullien with big Vic in front it's a solid combination defensively and at set pieces

Great performance. Won every ball in the air and never gave Defoe/Morelos a sniff. He was a major part of the clean sheet and deservedly for man of the match. Good interview as well telling us how he felt the team were a family on the park during the game. Loved hearing that.

Thought he was immense today, but they were so poor clueless lumping balks into the box, they played right into his hands.

If he wants to kick on Virgil style, he'll need to demonstrate firstly consistency, then the ability to defend effectively in Europe against strikers with better movement, intelligence and timing than both Defoe and Morelos.

The ability to play off both feet is a huge plus (and Maldini like) but let's see if he can develop a goal threat from set pieces

Early days but looks like a massive improvement on what we had under Rodgers.

Shades of Bobo Balde the way he charged a header dropping in front of the 18.

I had neither doubts or confidence about the lad. However, I was miffed he was valued at £7M coming from a Toulouse team that have finished 16th and 18th in the past two seasons.

That being said, talent can come from anywhere in world football and after yesterday display, he’s certainly a commanding and assured presence at the back.

I need to add, the * the media have been spouting about lack of leaders. Scott Brown, Ajer, Gordon and I think in a month or two, you’ll see Jullien grow as a leader.

Also leaders don’t need to be vocal and show emotion or have a commanding presence. French Ed is a leader, Jamesie, Christie, Calmac and Rogic are leaders. They inspire and give confidence by how they perform. Off the pitch there are no doubt personalities that help lead the collective.

Jullien mentioned the team being a family. It makes it easier when you trust each other and believe in each other. He gets it and so do the team.

Where was this interview, I’m shocked tbh.

Edit: I read the interview. A bit too honest in public in my opinion. Understandable that he’s feeling out of sorts given his age, Steve Clarke’s comments and a lot of competition for that one place. Seeing Forster come in almost puts his time to an end and he’s clearly not dealing with the prospect of his twilight on the bench.

Pop on the gordon thread. His exact words were,

"I want to be in it as much as possible and if I’m not then I’m not going to be happy.”

Shocked? He’s been an insufferable, self obsessed * for long enough.

Yep, shocked, I didn’t think that was how he was. I’ve not read or heard much from him to be aware of that and I’ve not been in his thread on here. (I don’t buy our rags and rarely read them online)

    Disappointing from him!

I don't have an issue with that statement. I'd be more annoyed if a player was happy to sit on the bench and not be bothered he wasn't getting a game.

The tone was more "if I'm no playing I dont give a * about the team I want out."

    Hope he * off.
