    I don't know if it's the publicity around those cases but I feel athletes have a bigger chance of a heart attack when they are young than regular moderately healthy people.

    I once heard a cardiologist say that an older man stood more chance of survival from a heart attack than a younger guy. The reason being that the older one gets the little accessory blood vessels surrounding the heart continue to branch out providing extra pathways should one of the major vessels encounter a problem. With a younger man he hasn't had time to develop this.
