4 free kick goals. Some cracking poachers finishes in there as well. Reliable penalty taker.

Maybe we were playing him in the wrong position. :giggle1:

Some stat that. Remember around 3 years ago he had a real high free kick accuracy with us.

11 goals for him not bad for a defender.

Would've been more than happy for Mulgrew to stay on with us when his contract expired. Glad to see him doing well for Blackburn. Really liked his performances for Scotland during the last campaign as well.

I know there was rumours about him and a few others taking the * out of players which Rodgers didn't like so he punted them.

Gotta say though, even with Boyata's one good season, if big Chaz was in our defence now standing next to guys like Jozo and Ajer I'd feel a lot more confident in our defence.

Along with a player who can actually cross a ball.

the Championship that it would have been easy for some of the players to have departed the club last summer.

Relegation to the third tier was certainly a sore one, but the likes of Mulgrew, Elliott Bennett and Danny Graham opted to remain Rovers.

And fast-forward almost a year and that determination to succeed and bounce back at the first attempt has come to fruition, with victory against Doncaster on Tuesday night.

Mulgrew bagged his 14th of a prolific campaign and speaking afterwards he was thrilled to skipper the side back to the second tier.

“I’m so proud. There were boys who stayed here who felt there was a job to be done this season," the 32-year-old confessed. "It would have been easy for a lot of boys to leave, push to go somewhere else.

“But we stuck together, stayed here and felt we owed the club something and it was all for this moment.

“We’re delighted to do it for all the staff, the fans, and us as players. We’re a real unit here.

“We’ve had one or two lows and were close to tears after the game against Bristol Rovers the other week. The changing room was defeated, the draw felt like a defeat.

“We were down but it’s a complete opposite of tonight. We’re over the moon."

And on his match-winning moment which sparked pandemonium amongst the superb 3,800 Rovers fans who made the trip to Yorkshire, the Scot reflected that he had no idea how to celebrate!

“It was a great ball in from Dacky, I think it’s skimmed Payney’s fringe and I thought my header was over the bar, but when I looked it was in the net!" he beamed.

“I am over the moon, it’s unbelievable. I didn’t know where to go after I scored or what to do and I didn’t want to pick up another booking thanks to the celebrations!

“I really wanted to run in amongst it all but I knew we had some time to go so decided against it!"

We have a feeling that Rovers fans will be pleased that we've got Mulgrew!....

Aye it is. Club record in fact for a defender. Well done to him and good luck next season. Nice way to finish his career.
