    Let's be honest here, the cartoon has nothing to do with satire, anti-racism or anything else of that nature.

    It was designed because the publishers knew that it would create a shitstorm in the worldwide media, keeping the magazine in the headlines and relevant.

    Sad as it is, it's all about keeping your brand and product in the public's minds, ensuring a nice little spike in web traffic and sales.

    Poking fun at religion, or religious intolerance should be encouraged and can be pretty funny if done correctly.

    Poking fun at a dead kid is poor taste though imo, and if you go down that route you do run the risk of public perception turning against you.

    It is about where you draw that line though, very few people are comfortable with freedom of speech under all circumstances.
