    This Villa-Leeds game is dire.

Dundalk standout Daryl Horgan transferred to Preston North End. I hope he finds success.

When you say Leeds will never get back to the level they were at, I wouldn't write them off. They're challenging for a play off position mid season and if by some stroke of luck and good management they get promoted then they would probably be bought by a wealthy Chinese businessman who could make them contenders again. Just like it happened with City and Chelsea. I don't think they were ever serious contenders before the money arrived while Leeds reached the semis of the CL. Would be quite a marquee purchase.

I think it'll be tougher for Rangers but on the other hand they only have to challenge one team so a very good manager and King's £30m could make them contenders for the title again. which is basically all they want.

That would also rely on us not progressing or even regressing. So at least two variables they have no control over.

So Sutton is right, now is the time for us to fly into the distance and leave them so far behind they'll need more than £30m so sort it out.

I was listening to Football Weekly a while back and one of the journos, think it was James Horncastle, said that Red Bull want to buy an English club in the neat future, like they have done with Leipzig and Salzburg.

He said that Leeds were the club most fancied by Red Bull. So I would't be shocked if that was to happen, particularly if they go up this season.

Isn't Andrea Radrizzani going to buy the club in the summer? He's got a percentage already and is on the official board. Think if Leeds go up, he'll take ownership of the entire club.

Big win for Leeds last night. 8 points clear of 7th place now and 4 behind Newcastle.

Leeds are truly a sleeping giant down there. Never had proper investment and thanks to that * Ridsdale they have been languishing for too long in the murky depths of the EFL.

When you see the money getting lobbed about by foreign investors in premiership clubs, it actually amazes me they are not being snapped up, as Leeds is the biggest city in the UK with only one club.

I didn't know that about Leeds. It does seem odd when you consider how huge they were in the 70"s and how they dominated in the European Cup. They are into rugby union and rugby league big time right enough.

Aye, big city. Manchester is smaller but may have a bigger catchment area. (Greater Manchester)

Although they have annoyed me at times, i think they were my first fav team from England when i was growing up. They had a very powerful side at the end of the 60s-mid 70s, and most young Scots liked them a bit, as so many of their players were Scottish internationals. Lorimer, Bremner, the Gray Bros, Harvey, Jordan,

Obviously we put them in their place in the EC semis!

I'd like to see Leeds back in the top flight. They've been out of the limelight for a while, but they're one of England's bigger clubs.

They've won the league more recently than Liverpool. Though I guess Blackburn and Leicester are also on that list so it probably doesn't count for much.

True, although Blackburn were propped up by investment and Leicester was a bit of a freak where everything went right for them and all the recent top sides had an off year and/or bottled it.

Leeds is a big city with a decent fan base and decent history. I always prefer to see the historically bigger clubs doing well.

Leeds would probably be where a club like Stoke are now, perennial do-nothing but stay up club, were it not for their hilariously bad financial mismanagement at the turn of the century. Size-wise they're probably the northern equivalent of Spurs, albeit with one more league title and less European success.

Good thing about them maybe coming up is they've got so many rivals due to their period as 'dirty Leeds', bound to throw up some feisty encounters.
