To be fair we'll never play them again anyway.

 

I wouldn't, they fouled us 50 times got 11 yellows and 3 reds against us at Celtic Park, they were fined £6,000( lot of money 44 year ago) and had 6 guys suspended for the 2nd Leg against us.

Thats an utter disgrace and a black mark against their name for eternity.

 

Played them the same amount of time's in club competition..

 

It is a disgrace. As far as I know, though, none of the players that day still play for Atletico now...so that team is nothing to do with the team of today.

 

I agree with that 1 simply because of my da and uncle talking untold * about Rapid and Atletico

Although I can see Dear Hunters point. I despise Porto/Baia/Mourinho. Juve/Amoruso/Lichsteiner/Their city/Polis/Scum support because it was during my/our time. Same goes for Ajax for a number of reason's and other club's..

Personal experience. Truth is, many of the younger generations won't even have a clue about some of these incidents..

 

Aye its mental, I coulny believe it when I looked it up myself and seen they committed 50 fouls you wouldny thik there was enough time in a game for 1 team to do 50 also 9 of their starting XI were booked and so were both of their subs and 3 of them were sent off, I think another 1 or 2 of their players were red carded after the whistle as well for fighting Celtic players in the tunnel.

Must have been mental to be in the stands watching a team just rugby tackle and boot you every time you were about to go up the park. Fans must have been seething.

 

Juventus are regarded in Italy exactly how Sevco are in Scotland, an organisation corrupt to the bone buying championships for decades and having a blind eye turned to it, was astonishing that eventually they were punished and demoted when they had been guilty of far worse crimes in the past which were common knowledge.

A club very hard to take to if you’re a purist, also their support base is very much like Man Utd and predominantly gloryhunters Not from the city with all sorts of weird reasons for their loyalty.

The thing about their fans someone mentioned was spot on, they would stab any * from the opposition, once went to the old Delli Alpi stadium and was a hairy night to say the least

 

if you go around hating continental teams for stuff like that you wont have many teams left to like . Its their approach to test (and break) the rules to the limits and it always has been.

I cant say i have any sympathy for the british teams refusal over the years to do it also. Its only recently the players have caught up but it is clear the way fans look at it is still miles apart from the continent.

 

The replayed Rapid game at Old Trafford was my first Celtic game away from Parkhead so holds a special memory, you are right I was recently speaking to some guys before a game who hadn’t a clue about the whole Rapid episode but to be fair it was over 30 * years ago

Yeah, I inherited my grudge of Atletico from my Dad. It was before my time. Probably a bit illogical but hey, it's an emotional game at times. I remember * like Rapid lying and cheating to get through a game they were losing. It was done in a fairly organised way which made it far worse than the usual diving * such as Porto.

Bet Juventus wish Madden was the ref for the game he would never have given Real a penalty for that, Clint Hill made more contact with Griff and he never gave a penalty
