    * 2-2 Dortmund, I tipped 2-2 earlier as well talking to a pal. Said Dortmund will probably score 2 as Madrid canny keep a clean sheet and Real are always good for a couple themselves. Done a coupon and picked the draw at 7/2 but 2-2 would probably be 16/1 or something.

Brilliant goal from Dortmund. Great achievement topping the group.

10 changes, they didn't give a * as they'd already won the group.

2nd isn't that bad for Real Madrid, they can draw Arsenal, Leicester, Monaco, Napoli or Juventus, you'd expect Real to sail through against the first 4 although Juventus would be tough.

You could make a case for the Madrid group being the weakest of the lot. Legia qualified for the Europa League with a goal difference of -15. The gulf between the top two and bottom two was vast.

No way, Leicesters group was easily the weakest. The 2nd in that group (Porto) are about on par with Sporting and I'd argue Legia are probably a better team than Brugge.

The gap between 2nd place Porto and Copenhagen was 2 points. The gap between Real and Legia was 8 points.

Leicester's group may have been easier in theory but Real's was easier in practice.

Well the fact that Real Madrid finished 2nd, says otherwise to me.

There was no credible threat to the top two in the group though, whereas Leiester's group could have served up any combination of Porto, Copenhagen and Leicester qualifying.

Dortmund and Real were unbeaten, also.

We are talking the weakest group. Real and Dortmund being in such a position is more a testament to how strong they are rather than the group as a whole. Put either of those teams in Leicesters shoes and they'd absolutely coast it. Put Leceister in either of their shoes and they'd just about scrape 2nd.

Leicesters was the worst for me, had some of the weakest teams from every pot.

    Id rank the pots

    1. Barcelona
    2. Real Madrid
    3. Bayern Munich
    4. Juventus
    5. PSG
    6. Leicester
    7. Benfica
    8. CSKA Moscow

    1. Dortmund
    2. Atletico Madrid
    3. Man City
    4. Arsenal
    5. Sevilla
    6. Napoli
    7. Leverkusen
    8. Porto

    1. Tottenham
    2. Monchengladbach
    3. Lyon
    4. Sporting Lisbon
    5. PSV
    6. Dinamo Kiev
    7. Basel
    8. Club Brugge

    1. Monaco
    2. Besiktas
    3. Celtic
    4. Rostov
    5. Legia Warsaw
    6. Copenhagen
    7. Ludogorets
    8. Dinamo Zagreb

So Leicesters Group probably had one of the 3 worst teams from each Pot.

I'd put Copenhagen 4th or 5th, but otherwise I agree.

Aye, was tough to rank them. They are a decent team, like a Strachan Celtic team solid and tough to beat. Marked them down though since they had Brugge in their Group who were the standout worst team in their Pot(Like Dinamo Zagreb of Pot 4). If Copenhagen had Sporting or PSV or that they might have came bottom as it would have made it more difficult for everyone to win where Brugge were just whipping boys. Legia and Rostov done well in tougher Groups.

You're obviously looking at it differently, I'm more saying weak in terms of competitiveness and interest, not the comparative strength of the teams. Real's group was one of the least competitive, and therefore weakest. Leicester are a bit of a red herring because they're not traditionally what you'd consider to be a pot 1 calibre outfit.

A team conceding 24 goals in the group stages isn't really fit for purpose, Legia shouldn't have had a hope of advancing and only did so because Sporting couldn't live with the big boys (or Legia, as it turned out). Dortmund and Real scored 37 between them compared to 16 for Leicester and Porto, so it's easy to see who had the simpler path.

Pretty much liked Dortmund's effort. Coming back from a 0-2 in Madrid is a big task. Imagine if Reus and Götze were fit and on fire, what could be possible?
