Certainly hope Monaco go all the way but I think Real will retain it. They have the quality, experience and mettle for this stage of the competition. Even when not playing well they manage decent results.

If Real win it, where does that rank Zidane in terms of managerial class ?. Two champions leagues in your first two years of management is an incredible achievement. Yet no one seems to mention him.

Monaco are a good team but I think Juventus or Atletico would deal with them fairly handily.

They've been "fortunate" that they got City and then Dortmund, two teams that can't defend. And Monaco do leak goals as well. As soon as they come up against a good defence the will struggle.

Zidane strikes me slightly like Di Matteo at Chelsea. Not really in charge as such, senior players like Ramos, Ronaldo and Marcelo will provide that sort of presence for the rest of the team, like Lampard, Terry and Drogba did at Chelsea. He's more a senior figure that commands a level of respect for what he did at the club as a player, but as you seen the other night, Ronaldo telling Zidane when to make subs and the like is quite degrading as any player telling their manager what to do would be.

Borussia Dortmund were in an "awkward mindset" after their team bus was delayed before Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg defeat at Monaco, said coach Thomas Tuchel.

Dortmund said the bus was stopped by police for 20 minutes, with kick-off then delayed by five minutes.

"I had the feeling we were focused and full of joy and happiness to play this game. Then suddenly there were awkward mindsets going around."

The German said the delay did not have an impact on him throughout the game, but that he was "not sure" how it affected the players.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What do we think about that? I can see where he's coming from with what happened last week, but I can't help but think he's making excuses for his team losing, again.

No-one has mentioned him because as you say there, it is only his second season of management and he still hasn't won the second title. Still very early days.

It would be a brilliant achievement, of course.

Talking of him, just read about him defending Ronaldo for 'shushing' the Real fans. Never seen that happening, interesting and kind of relates to the discussion about CR the other night.

Difficult to say. On the face of it it does look like he is dragging it out as an excuse but I suppose it will still be fresh in the memory, despite (as bad as this sounds) nobody being seriously injured.
