"Local politicians, the IFA and the PSNI seem to be shrugging their collective shoulders in acceptance of this shameful state of affairs and the loss of what should have been a premier sporting occasion. They need to act. The so-called authorities need to be held accountable. Belfast does not need another fifty years of pandering to loyalist extremism and sectarianism whether it be in sport or elsewhere in society. Linfield versus Celtic at Windsor Park should have been a huge gala event and a tribute to our common future – not a throwback to our troubled past."

There is one paragraph that i think is more relevant in this

"It is also worth asking how UEFA will react to this week’s developments? Or rather how they should react? Why should a team and a football association that cannot guarantee the safety of visiting supporters be permitted to participate in international competition?"

I have been on holiday and only just found out about the draw and the reaction to it by the club and various posters on here.

It's sad that the club has had to reach the decision they have but it is the right one. The safety of Celtic supporters should be paramount and just one hurt - no matter how significant it is - is one too many.

However, I would be happy and would advocate a return leg ban on away fans too. Not because I believe that Linfield supporters would be at risk but because there is a certain club in Glasgow whose own supporters would be happy to use the occasion to take us back to the dark days of football knowing that their club will not be punished for their actions.

Shocking decision that unfairly punishes our fans. More importantly, it may lead to greater danger. Fans can be controlled and managed within the space of Windsor Park. Now, we will hae Celtic fans roaming aimlessly through the streets and drinking in the pubs all day.

I honestly don't think many will go even from the 6 counties.

In fact, as disgraceful as it is that those living in Belfast cannot see their team in their own city, I suspect that those living there - more so than those of us who don't - appreciate how dangerous the areas surrounding the ground and Windsor Park itself will be on the night and avoid it.

Don't read too much into people on the Internet saying they're still going to go to the match. If more than 100 manage to get into Windsor Park it will be amazing.

I have no doubt that many will travel to Belfast to watch the match in Celtic pubs in the West of the city but those actually intending to watch the match "in the flesh" are few and far between.

Any idea if the home leg is the 18th or the 19th, I need to get it off as I'm working.

Since the away leg will be on 14th i would assume they will play the home leg on 19th but cant find info on whether this is right.

Confirmed on the official site as being on the 19th regardless of opponent.
