I love Keano but he does like the sound of his own voice sometimes. He gives the glaringly obvious without giving the answers. We know who and where we are. We don't go into the CL demanding results from PSG or Bayern. The format is set up to not allow it to happen. We and others can at times pull off wonder results. But that is all they are "Wonder results." So we go in rake up the cash and try to build it from there. It's the reason many fans like myself believe the Europa is a much more suited environment for teams of our level.

Watching the team's who are beating us in the cl they are 2/3 steps ahead in movement and thought ,this is were we need to improve and defensively by looking at the amount of goals conceded, is an area that needs fixing ,boyata has come on so much and impresses with every game ,we can get there playing together and gaining experience with a few wee adjustments here and there we will not be far away in a couple of years .

We've only had one game with jozo and boyata together and it was a stroll another centre back of that Calibre would make these games against the top teams closer

If we manage to get to Europa Last 32 we may be unseeded.
The top 4 3rd place CL GS teams will be seeded in Europa last 32 and the bottom 4 will be unseeded.
Current standings are as follows (GD sets the place with teams on same points)

    1) Sevilla on 4 pts
    2) Napoli on 3 pts : GD 0
    3) Porto on 3 pts : GD 0
    4) Sporting CP on 3 pts : GD -1
    ------------------------------------
    5) CSKA Moscow on 3 pts : GD -4
    6) Celtic on 3 pts : GD -5
    7) Atletico Madrid on 2 pts
    8) Borussia Dortmund on 1 pt

As it stands just now in both comps, we could be drawn against any of the following in the Europa Last 32

    AC Milan
    Atalanta
    Locomotiv Moscow
    Steaua Bucharest
    Arsenal
    RB Salzburg
    Ostersund
    Lazio
    Zenit St Petersburg
    Sevilla
    Napoli
    Porto
    Sporting CP

That table goes to show the potential importance of keeping the scorelines down against PSG and Bayern. The difference between a doable draw and a mountain to climb in the last 32 could be the difference between a couple goals not being conceded in this group.

Do you know what sort of teams we could be drawn against if we're seeded?

We could just go gung-ho v Anderewank at Parkhead. 8-0 would bring up our GD.

Some teams in the Europa. They need to give that competition more prestige.

Looking at previous years 6 points isn't enough to be seeded. Will probably need another point along with an anderlecht win.

    My point is this:

Has BR mastered European football? Def not
Has BR been successful in European football? No
Does his style of play suit European football? The facts would suggest not

He failed miserably year after year at L'pool in the Europa League with a much bigger budget than he has access to now, and in theory with much better 'quality' players

    Since coming to Celtic:
Our heaviest European defeat ever: 7-0 at the Nou Camp last year
Our heaviest European home defeat ever: 0-5 PSG this year

Just my opinion. Don't get me wrong, massive fan of BR, I wouldn't have anyone else on the planet managing the club right now. Just wish he would adjust his tactics for European competition.

So looking like we'll get through to the last 32 with a 3rd place finish, Anderlecht home game permitting, and we'll most likely unseeded - meaning we'll be at home first leg if I'm not mistaken as well and against more difficult opposition prospects?

The scores don’t matter, we’ve qualified and won every game we’ve expected to win,

Back to back qualification to the CL group stages in his first 2 seasons.

Unbeaten home and away against Man City.

    A draw away to BMG

    Away win against Anderlecht

A chance to progress to the Europa

All this against a domestic backdrop of 60 odd games unbeaten.

Oh nearly forgot the small matter of a Treble last season.

And just for the record i also wish he'd adjust his tactics for certain games in Europe.

But i felt obliged to highlight all the positives in response to you highlighting all the negatives.

Brendan is getting compared to Martin O’Neil and Strachan, when he should be getting compared to Lennon and Deila. The standard in Scotland is * compared to those days, and the gap between us and the top teams has gotten wider. If Brendan manages a single point from anyone apart from Anderlecht in this group, he deserves all the praise in the world.

Bayern have a massive game on Saturday, all their focus will be on that. Imagine we were 3 points behind Aberdeen and were playing them on Saturday. Honestly think we might catch them off guard if we want it enough.

Would have thought there would have been an allocation handed back from UEFA for the Bayern game, like PSG for general sale.

I have a strong feeling we are going to get a result against Bayern. Brendan is a great learner. He can pick things up about teams and transmit them to our players. Monchengladbach beat us 2.0 at Parkhead but we got a draw over there. Man City drew at Parkhead, I was at the return game & we should have won.

I'm certainly going to back Celtic for a win, should be a big price, & maybe a saver on a draw.

PS I have read comments from Scottish so-called pundits saying we are an embarrassment in Europe, we are going to stick this up their jaxi.
