The way he does that is so snide. The more I think of this, the worse it looks. Why isn't more being made of this? Even if it wasn't St Patrick's day, someone supposedly being paid to look after fan safety, snidely grabs the property of a fan and runs off with it. :97: I mean, really?!

Seriously, if this guy had grabbed something other than a flag from a member of the public (whose safety he is being paid to look after) and run off, can you imagine the reaction? Not only would he lose his job, he'd be all over the telly and probably be charged with something. The police would have returned the property with an apology and the steward would have been lifted.

More needs to be made of this. I mean seriously. The media are quick to make an example of fans who act recklessly and stupidly (in the particular case of the idiots throwing things and trying to punch players and managers, rightly so), well that's a two-way street. If I understand the above videos right, this guy actually got lifted for trying to retrieve his property from one of the very people supposed to be looking out for public safety.

The very fact that this isn't being seen as a massive deal even on here tells a story about how normal harassment has become.

If that was a Scotland flag would it have been ripped down ?
    I don't think so.

    More anti Irishness.

The Celtic SLO tweeted at least three times (edit- twice) that fans were not to take banners in due to lack of space to display them. Advertisers pay money for their advert to be displayed on match days.

Someone draped a flag over the edge in the main stand and was asked to move it, politely, and did so. Steward actually seemed embarrassed.

Devils advocate post btw. Steward in this incident is a * of course, though.

That could of escalated into something more serious.
Up at the Saints game a few weeks back we put up our flag and a steward told us to take it down, it wasnt over advertising or obstructing views so we got one of the head stewards over and he checked it and said it was fine.
Just looking for trouble half the time.

If they are going to ban away fans from taking flags they probably should stop home fans taking them as well or it is just going to * folk off.

Think it’s a typo. Meant to say banner.

There was a fracas at the gate/bag check with the lad, tried to take his banner and he snatched it back was the story doing the rounds. In the melee he bolted and ran off through the crowd, I saw him fall over the badge sellers table then the polis and stewards caught him and pinned him down.
