    Come on now.

It's not exactly uncommon knowledge that Hearts have traditionally been perceived as Edinburgh's 'protestant club', even if Edinburgh hasn't been subject to the same societal division as parts of west central Scotland.

None that I'm aware of and if the wording of my post was poor then fair enough. No direct ties to the faith, but a traditionally protestant background nonetheless.

I think you understand the intended meaning though so no need to delve into semantics.

For the record, I'm not trying to claim that our supporters are sectarian. Not in the slightest.

I can just understand how that particular chant could be construed as so when it isn't exclusively aimed at "orange *".

How have they had a traditionally protestant background though, that’s what I’m asking?

They've always had a traditionally protestant following in the community and a protestant identity that came with it.

They were never as backwards as the huns with their signing policies or anything, although I think I read once that initially on of their founders was pretty anti-Catholic. Don't quote me on it. I've got the cold and can't be arsed going to the bother of looking it up tonight :giggle1:

I’ve never seen anything that links them to the protestant faith. I do know they sing loyalist songs though.

So that firmly puts them in the Orange * camp.

Protestantism is not a faith, It is what it says it is, a protest movement against Catholicism. They are also not keen on Muslims ,Hindus,Sikhs,People who's skin isn't white, Gay and Lesbian folk. Half of them don't even like each other so * them. If anyone wishes to call them orange * that's ok with me

Huns were originally formed as a Protestant Boys Club and at that time nearly every player was a Protestant in every club. It wasn't until Celtic were formed to mainly provide support for the local Catholic community that the Scum decided that to sign Catholics would alienate the vast majority of their support.
Celtic initially wanted to limit the number of Protestants playing for Celtic but that was rejected and the rest is history.

Dude, are you really claiming that Protestants as a group are bigoted, racist, homophobic bigots?
FWIW I absolutely don't think that calling a group of fans who clearly behave like orange * "orange *" is sectarian (if the cap fits and all that); on the other hand I have to think that your post maybe is.

Edit: In context, I wonder if maybe you meant Hearts fans in that second part. If so, I would edit your post, mate. Right now it looks like you are referring to Protestants.

I've never heard them being referred to as a protestant club. Loyalist, bigoted, royalist scum yes but protestant, no.

In a strange twist it might be you who is being sectarian by generalising a support in such a way.
