'Scarfers' do get attacked, people have died, (Heysel disaster being the biggest case). They ruin football games for normal fans who aren't insecure pieces of * trying to find some meaning with their lives so they behave like hooligans all day. If you want to fight, join a boxing club, do MMA, don't go chucking 3 punches in a town centre in groups of 20 and then run away before the police catch you whilst trashing pubs and cars and whatever along the way. It's absurd to anyone with a double digit or higher IQ.

As someone who used to 'look' for aggro I can understand it. Not necessarily on the football grounds but in pubs etc. Im far past that age (and fitness) today. But in every male there exists a primal instinct to want to go knuckle to knuckle with other knuckleheads, and I can understand that. The Heysel case was a one off, most fights involving football is no where close to that kind of magnitude. As I said theres no doubt police need to be involved in these incidents, but some of the jail terms for a mere punch up are a bit harsh in my opinion.

Aye let them go at it who cares if they don't hit someone with a scarf it's not as if any children go to the games. It's a tiny group of 15 year olds who think there billy big baws with there mates cos they have a stone island jacket and enjoy a game of chases.

All my friends were doing the same thing. We had groups that we fought with off and on, outside of shows, at pubs, etc. It was a bit of an adrenalin rush. Things were said, "what the *.." was heard, a few fists flew through the air, bottles thrown, police were called, we all ran. Just being teenagers. It was fun for awhile. Soon though we all got older and got serious with girls and then it was over. Thesedays I am not a violent person at all. I just understand why males take interest in violence. Like it or not, its in our blood.

As for one of the other well known one's, must love a bit of telly. Why anyone would be on national telly talking about thing's is a mystery to me. Idiots..

What a * name. Read a bit of this book myself actually but couldn't finish it.

I watched a documentary a while back where both that John O'Kane and the main man from the Huns were interviewed.

Load of bollocks. Some of the stuff he was saying had happened to him you just have to wonder why anyone would want to be involved with that.

I've seen quite a few documentaries about the casuals up here and from what they said, the Hibs and Aberdeen lot were the main ones about. Dunno if that's accurate or not...I wasn't about when the scene was in it's heyday up here.

I am pretty sure they call it soccer in lots of Ireland there mate.

Anyways I think it comes from "socker", like "socking" someone, or punching them. So its a play on words of soccer and punching, I guess. I cant think of any other reason they'd call it that, really. People were goofy back then.

Aye, Aberdeen were a shower of mad *, new a couple of lads than ran about with them. Can remember one of the last games England played at Hampden during the late 80s, loads of scrappin just beside Mt Florida station. Next days Record front page, these two mad * were right in the middle of it [IMG]

Thing is these lads were great lads if you ever bumped into them in the pub, just kept themselves to themselves....... soon as Saturday came round though, only one thing on their mind.

Same story with alot of these guys.

Normal every day folk with decent jobs, sometimes very high flying jobs...then at the weekend they let loose.

It is an addiction. How I'd describe what they choose to do, anyway. Not my scene and I don't want us to ever be tarred with that brush. However I can still acknowledge and choose to see why many want to get involved.
