    People forget how good Stokesy was for us the first half of that year. Was unlucky not to score in Europe, but he tore apart the league domestically for a good while that year with Commons.

    The first half of the year he was largely * but the 2nd half? He was frightening. Griffiths came in, he went on a run of something like 11 in 14, whilst setting Griff up for 4 or 5. That's off the top of my head.

    First half of the season he was just making room for Commons to exploit the space, at his own detriment.

    I thought that was Stokes' best season for us.

    When Griffiths came in, he added a wee bit of a threat in behind which made them a pretty dangerous attacking trio at this level.

    I agree mate, looked like it was the season he would finally stand on his own two feet and take responsibilty for himself and those around him. Was a flash in the pan though.

    I'm a big fan of Stokes, not going to pretend he's not a frustrating guy though.

    I remember I took one of my mates up from down here. He had no Celtic or Irish connections and we had a right good rebel session in Tully's Cambuslang before the game. Funnily enough he never asked to come up again :giggle1:
