Need players who * the SPL and can make the step up in Europe.. we’ll never be more competitive on the European front if that’s our calibre of CB..

Dembele is our best defender, when it comes to defending corners.. Boyata not even dominant in the air lately..

    Some people expect too much.

Time to get used to the Boyata type CB's at the club.

Part of the problem in Europe is our defenders never really get tested domestically but in Europe we need to defend a lot. So it wouldn't matter who we had at the back disorganisation and panic would still set in, in Europe just because they rarely ever come up against good players.

We could play De Vries and Bain at centre-half and it probably wouldn't stop us winning the League.

Good defenders would keep the scoreline down however and allow our attackers the chance to influence the game

Good defenders can make all the difference in Europe mate.. but in some ways quality DMs are even more important.. it is hard to make the step-up it’s always been an issue but a better calibre defender than what we currently have is a must..

Rogic on the bench. Hopefully subbed on in the second half.

And how well he did! Ajer is by many expected to become captain of the national team. After Hangeland Norway has tried out 8 - 10 central defenders without much luck. It looks like we've found the man who can take up the heritage after Bratseth, Ronny Johnsen, Henning Berg and Hangeland.

JACK Hendry and his Celtic team-mates helped Scotland record their first win under Alex McLeish since he returned as manager of the national side in a week which saw a long list of Celtic players impress while on international duty.

The 22-year-old Hoops defender received his first cap when he started in Scotland’s 1-0 win over Hungary in Budapest. He was joined in the starting XI by James Forrest, Stuart Armstrong and Callum McGregor.

Kristoffer Ajer will also return from the international break on a high having clinched back-to-back victories with Norway. The 19-year-old made his debut with the senior side last week in a 4-1 win over a World Cup-bound Australia side which included his Hoops team-mate Tom Rogic. He followed this up by again playing all 90 minutes when Norway recorded a 1-0 win over Albania on Monday (March 26).

Moussa Dembele and Olivier Ntcham, meanwhile, helped the French Under-21 side record their seventh successive win in the Under-21 European Qualifiers. The pair both started for France in the 2-0 win over Montenegro on Tuesday night which put France 11 points clear at the top of Group 9.

Tom Rogic again featured for Australia in last night’s 0-0 draw with Columbia at Craven Cottage while Cristian Gamboa played 85 minutes in Costa Rica’s 1-0 loss to Tunisia in Nice.

Dedryck Boyata and Mikel Lustig will return relatively fresh after being unused substitutes in Belgium’s 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia and Sweden’s 1-0 loss to Romania, respectively.

Stephen Welsh, Kerr McInroy and Jack Aitchison all played in Scotland Under-21s' narrow 5-4 defeat against Norway, though both players got on the scoresheet with a goal each.

Roughly about 2 months removed from the WC final and 4 games into our domestic league and already on an international break.

    * bollocks, can't we just do away with this type of *.

With some leagues their season will be finished or about to finish. The international breaks have to be fitted in somewhere.

They should make all International games at the end of season, think it would make more sense just to have a full club season then an International season at the end. That way club players have the whole season to make the International squad for the 6-8 games or whatever at the end of the season.

Could end the club season a month earlier since theres no International breaks and use May for all International games plus then there would be no real need for International friendlies since you'd be playing all your International games at the same time so would only need 1 friendly then your 6 competivive qualifiers or whatever back to back Saturday-Wednesday.

Would also do away with people always pulling out of International squads and stuff since every International squad would be a big deal.

Currently International football is quite * and just wastes a lot of time since teams are playing 3 and 4 friendlies a season which are meaningless just to build up momentum for real games, because theres a lot of friendlies then good players just pull out as theres no point in them playing in them which just makes a lot of games a farce and pointless.

But many countries play their season over March to November, many hot countries in the southern hemisphere play their football through the winter and cold countries in the northern play in the summer.
Also European qualifiers for each competition is 10 games plus play offs, South America they play 18 matches (plus the Copa America), that would mean in May an extra 10 games in a short space of time. The players would be knackered, especially people who play for Celtic as they would be back training straight away for CL qualifiers.
