Didnt include Jimmy McStay since he never managed in a competitive game.

Didnt realise Willie Maley won so many games, quite possibly could be the only manager thats won over 1000 games with the one Club? Even Struth of the Huns never got near that, he didnt even reach 800. Alex Ferguson has won 859 at Man Utd.

Tell you what, Lenny European record is shaping up quite nicely on early stats. Especially when you consider he started straight away with a loss

Surprisingly average European record for Strachan considering how many great nights we had under him.

Some of those do need to be read in context however... Jimmy McGrory, for example, was repeatedly undermined by Robert Kelly & the board. Macari was undoubtedly a poor manager, however he was in charge during a period of incredible turmoil at the club, which almost saw Celtic go under til Dempsey, McCann & the Rebels were able to turf out the old board.

Probably because Strachan hardly played a Champions League qualifier though, I can only mind Artmedia and Spartak? I dont think Strachan ever played in the UEFA Cup either so it was all Champions League and all pretty hard games except Artmedia.

Aye all Strachans games were in the Champions League. 4 Qualifiers, 18 Group Games and 4 Last 16 games.

Just look at Jock Stein's record.

To have maintained that level of excellence over 10 years is extraordinary.

    He is the best ever.

some great numbers in there, Strachan's league record is superb. Jock has amazing numbers, as well as MON. Lenny has some impressive numbers also considering how in shambles the team was when he took over. Great stuff :50:

    This.

Especially the season where we lost only one game.

The Huns lost a few games that year, but we drew a bagful, and that's what cost us the title.

The frustration at the time was extreme.

Agree with this. Especially the season where we lost one game and drew 11. Although the football was great to watch, we could be a bit soft at the back at times.

Wonder why that John Barnes chap had such a short run as manager, better win % than most of that list, including Willie Maley. Can only assume he was snapped up by one of the top European sides :56:

Probably his losses compared to draws. He lost 4 times as many games as he drew, no other Celtic manager has even lost double what they drew.

well according to Barnes in a recent BBC 3 documentry he wasn't given as much time as other Managers as he is Black. Nothing to do with the fact he was pish and couldn't comman any respect in the dressing room then?

I think by the end of the year Lennon will probably have the highest win % out of any Celtic manager ever. We'll probably lose or draw 3/4 games in Europe this season and probably about the same domestically although they'll probably all be draws. So if he wins the other 40 matches or so he should be on top.

That just shows how good MON was, he managed 81 more games than WGS and lost only 5 more and drew 7 less. That was a the best time in my lifetime to be a Celtic fan.

The football under Tommy Burns was also amazing but just to many draws.

Don't remember much before MON, was too young, but was Barnes really awful? just because his record doesn't look to bad.

He done alright, then Larsson got injured and we started losing games and ended up about 12/15 points behind the huns in February.

    In his first 13 games we won with results like 7-0, 6-0, 5-0, 4-0, 4-0, 4-0, plus a 3-0 and a couple of 2-0, 2-1s and 1-0s. Won 12 only lost 1 games.

Then Larsson got injured in his 14th game against Lyon which we lost. Including that we lost 7, drew 2 and only won 7 of the rest of his games, the last of which was obviously the 3-1 defeat off of Inverness. Which was the final staw. Although amongst the * run we still squeezed in another 6-0 win, a 5-1 and a 4-0.

So despite how bad it turned out, hes still won 1/3 of his games with 4+ goals. Which is really impressive.

But Burchill, Ian Wright and Brattbakk just werent Larsson.
