CELTIC have formed a partnership with top flight Polish club Korona Kielce, which could see them land the cream of their top young talent.

Korona are in mid-table in the Polish Ekstraklasa and have ambitions to be one of the top clubs in the country after bouncing back from a corruption scandal ten years ago.

And they have reached an agreement with the Scottish champions for a partnership after Celtic invited two of their coaches, Rafal Kwiecien and Artur Wierzba, to the recent Old Firm game.

Kwiecien said: "There are two camps set up in the summer in Staszow and Zielonka. The best young footballers will get a trial with Celtic and train with them."

"We were well received by Celtic and met a number of their coaches when we were in Glasgow.

"Celtic have had many connections with Polish football over the years - players like Dariusz Dziekanowski, Dariusz Wdowczyk, Maciej Zurawski, Paweł Brozek, Lukasz Zaluska and Artur Boruc. Many of them were idols for the Celtic fans.

"We enjoyed the atmosphere at the Old Firm game and hope this can be the start of a long, successful partnership.

"And hopefully, some of our youngsters can be the next Polish stars to make an impact at Celtic."

Ahh good, another one of these partnerships where we inevitably get no players from and loan nobody to them.

What happened to the Mexican and Australia ventures? I’m sure there were more. Would hate to think we spend money on these static clubs when we could invest the money in much better European scouting system. We could be based out of Belgium or Holland and we could lure young talent with promise of CL outings and regular football to those good enough. We could show them lists of top talent that wasted so much time on Chelsea, Arsenal and City benches.

Even just a quick look at transfermarket and they barely have any talent, nevermind young..

We don't know the reason's for this yet, but i just feel we could've picked a top Polish club if we really wanted..

I mean, I like the idea, but we did it before with Santos Laguna and it's amounted to absolutely nothing.

Doubt it. The only evidence of it ever existing was the odd good luck message to each other on Twitter, but I haven't seen one of them for a couple of years.:giggle1:

Hopefully, we set this up while we were over in Poland negotiating a deal for Gumny.

    Was reading about this..

Do they have a good academy type system or are they just a ‘source’ of players they’ve signed?

I'm Polish so I can have a word in this topic.

It's surprising to say the least. Not only this is a club which did not have any real talent over the years but also does not hold any remarkable status in the country. I'm truly bemused why Ekstraklasa side in the first place and then even more bemused it's Korona.

Pointless move, just like with Santos and with that Australian club. Which was it? Central Coast Mariners? Can't remember. Tbh out of all these three clubs Korona is the least appealing.

Not sure the point in this. Should have had a wee word in Bilbao's ear when they were presenting the award for McNeil instead, see if they were up for firing a few of their prospects over.

Our unofficial links with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain wil probably prove more productive.

That’s not going to happen given their signing policy, that and the fact they need every talented Basque player they can bring through.

At the moment their U-18 team are well clear at the top of the Polish youth league having won 18 of 23 games so possibly they have some good prospects coming through.
