Good way of putting it mate. They are the best I've seen. Not possession for possession sake. Just a machine and an utterly ruthless one at that..

Juve we did cause problem's to with set piece's at least but Psg were/are something else..

It was outrageously top class. No one more so than Brendan would've appreciated that, especially as it's something he's trying to implement here..

Twice I thought we had them penned in for that move first half but how they played it out to Alves or whoever it was on the right was different gravy..

We weren't committing other players forward so PSG had no one else to worry about. Our wingers generally had 2, sometimes 3, players on them.

Roberts beat his man 2/3 times and the guy just tripped him and gave away a foul

We are a bit too soft and nice in Europe.

The Barca 7-0 game last season we only committed 3 fouls and then the PSG game we committed 5 fouls, 8 fouls in games we conceded 12 goals. 99% of teams in Europe would have resorted to kicking the * out * and doing sneaky pulls and went down easy buying fouls and rolling about running the clock down to keep the score down.

We just got on with the game and took a doing.

I'd say we're still not streetwise enough at the top level..

Look at Neymar. 3 up and still diving against us. It happens a lot in the big game's. We don't seem to be cute enough when fouling or buying fouls still. You'll see us give away the most blatant penalties like Jozo, and pick up the most blatant yellows like Ralston..

It isn't diving but we're talking about Juve before and although it's not all subtle, a lot of it is in the box as we know. If we were more relaxed on European night's, I do think we'd be better at the more ugly side of the game..

Aye, PSG will do cynical wee fouls to stop breakaways on them, they will milk every foul against them by rolling about, go down the the most minimal amounts of contact, complain about everything and all that sort of stuff even against teams like us despite pumping us anyway. We never do any of that despite us struggling enough as it is without disadvantaging ourselves more.

Completely agree. That's with a team that's hammering us as well. It isn't pretty and our crowd almost demand a quick tempo but sometimes we have to be wasting loads of time we can under pressure just to kill minute's and not only that, but catch a breather..

The amount of running a side like us must do with minimal ball and getting passed about must be a killer. Our player's were absolutely * with 15/20 minute's to go the other night..

Not unrealistic considering how poor Bayern have been to start. Don't think they'll beat PSG anyway.

Owen coyle made this point on radio Scotland post match. On average the ball is in play for about 60mins out of the 90. In our game with PSG, the ball was in play for 69 mins, meaning we had to loads of running and harrying such was the way PSG were zipping the ball about and not letting it run out of play.

I agree with another poster who said we need to be more streetwise and break up their play. Aye PSG were awesome to watch, but * that. Frustrate their play and style. Based on pure footballing ability, PSG win hands down so we need to bend the rules and play "clever", buying and giving away cheap fouls at the right time/area of the park.

you could and can analyze a performance to death.... but the truth is we never performed! we froze almost completely and individually as a team and weren't used to the formation we were told to play

add to that we went into this campaign knowingly without a recognized center back and you have a calamity

in saying all this i still take it we could and probably would have still been given a doing but these errors we made, made it a certainty

in short i think we are overblowing the psg trumpet with our criminal performance... c- performance.... must do better

yeah im a hard task master, but this is celtic the players must want to do their absolute best and not look for excuses

Brenden played the same formation as in domestic games and when you play these mega rich teams I think you need to play a formation to frustrate and make it harder for them .

PSG were sensational and I really hope that, rather than being too down on themselves, the coaching and playing staff are really inspired by what they faced in midweek.

PSG were technically sound, really composed and worked really well as a team. They all understood their roles/positions and trusted each other completely. That meant they'd take the ball in any situation, they always had options around them and they were always in total control. In addition to that, they had pace, height and strength throughout the side.

By comparison, our players looked slower to everything and panicked in possession (Scott Brown was one of the few who showed a bit of composure on the ball). Where PSG looked compact and moved up and down the park as a real unit, our players looked miles away from each other, and that obviously means it's a lot harder to string passes together.

PSG did to us what we do to a lot of our opponents in Scotland, but they did it with such frightening speed and finesse. On top of that, they were so clinical and ruthless. They barely wasted a chance.

Like I say, we should be inspired by that.

But is there another level we can go to with these players? Or are we getting the maximum out of them?

He played a flat midfield three while domestically he plays a two with a number 10.

Just think we should go 4-5-1 against these teams and just try deny them space.

If your gonna do that then maybe play without wingers as they are not great at defending anyway ?

Looking forward to the next game onwards and upwards, players will learn from it, can't freeze against teams from champions league nowhere to hide, you have to get stuck in, they close you down so well you have to have support, a lot of the time it has to go back to keep the ball as soon as we broke a defender was on the man with the ball and there was men on either side of him he only had a backwards pass to play and too often was robbed of him

Our midfield didn't work didn't retain the ball that's the holy grail at this level retaining possession especially against sides like this or sit in like we used with Lennon and frustrate the life out of them not a fan of that style but it worked a few times and usually kept it tighter

As you say 4-5-1 is frustrating to watch but can get us the point or points to get European football after Christmas.
