I'm happy you enjoy it, Jeannie. I'm not Christian and abhor the constant advertising which is really only about making you spend money.
Years ago I worked as a Welfare Rights officer and saw the fall-out from Christmas from about February onwards when people would come in for help because they had run up debt for Christmas and had felt compelled to do so. In my eyes the whole "festival" is a rip to make people spend silly money and, in my experience, it's a real pitfall for so many people.

I appreciate where you're coming from..The older I've got the less materialistic I've become. I think I've just gone back to the old way of thinking/doing it. When we were kids there were presents of course but back then it was what your parents could reasonably afford. Expectations of kids now are sky high but times will change. There has to come a point as it's going to become so unrealistic trying to keep up with other people. I love all the colour and the jingle of it all but had we had so much choice back then there still wouldn't have been the money for it.

 

I draw the line at a bag of toffees and a tangerine.

This is far better than last years. Lets face it this is mainly aimed at kids so for grown men to start seriously critiquing the advert is pretty pathetic. My kids watched it and they liked it so its job done as far as im concerned. Well done, big improvement on last year

 

It cracks me up that 99.9% of everything you post on here is sheer negativity. The advert is pretty much what you would expect from something that is mostly aimed at Kids. What the * were you expecting a lyrical masterpiece to rival the likes of Dylan, John Lennon, Bowie etc.

Id imagine something like 'why does it always rain on me' would be right up your street.

I smiled all the way through it. Loved it. Sure there is the fact that almost every peice of club merchandise gets a wee appearance, but you expect that. At the end of the day it's down to parents to keep their kids expectation levels reasonable. I can talk, I've just bought my wee yin a nintendo switch on top of her other pressies. Do it to see her happy and not so she can show off though. It's only once a year.
