Discuss Celtic (2) v AIK Stockholm (0), Europa League. in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.
CalMac will be stadium announcer.
Ntcham and Christie have been our best midfielders so far this season.
The negativity on this forum is pretty bad! I'm confident we can progress through to the group stages!
Nice 2-0 would do nicely tomorrow.
What AIK offers basically:
Always: Strong defending, one of our strongest UpSellingPoint since foundation 1891.
Today: Strong defending, one of the strongest we've had ever some might say.
Won the league last year with 67 points (record in our league), we lost 1 game out of 30 last year (away against Norrköping, one of the top contenders last 5 years).
16 goals against, 50 goals scored.
(Top scoring team last year had 57 scored, least goals against (after us) 27 goals).
This year? Basically the same as last year, we lost some players and added some.
The defence is a little bit weaker than last year but still our strong side.
Lost last game in the league (home against Kalmar), had several starting players on the bench resting for the away game against Celtic. By far the weakeast game we have played this year, BY FAR, everyone did their worst game of the year.
Obviously you are a stronger team, a bigger team historically and are used to European games compared to us.
But.. the ball is round and i think everyone in here knows that if we played you 10 times you would probably win more games than us but when it comes to a 2game qualifying opportunity.. anything can happen
Now, I have been a AIK-fan all my life and wouldnt say anything else, but lets just say we have won the "public-league" (most attendance) 39 times in history, BY FAR more than anyone.
Generally biggest club in Sweden, even if there are 2 clubs with more league titles (from back in the days though). Most members out of all nordic clubs, most searchs on google, most fans on social media etc.
Whoever visits Friends Arena will have a fantastic time, I can guarantee that
Attendance should be over 30K, hoping for 35-40 which is very doable unless you * on us at Celtic Park and win with 4-0 or similar, that would not sell more tickets.
@SecretOne187 welcome to talkceltic. Good to learn a little about AiK
Anything you want to know, except our most valuable secrets, I can share.
I don’t think I need to mention Sebastian Larsson, don’t give us free kicks.. he is insane!
Adu, played in Malmö FF when they beat you guys, best def midfielder in the league. At least top 3, no doubt.
Actually, you guys should be glad Tarik E can’t play against you in the first leg (suspended), he will run circles around you guys at home
Bahoui not fit for 90 yet, he will do some
magic for maximum 45 min, if he has a good day.. he’s fantastic.
I hope we * on you
Welcome to Talkceltic
Should be two tasty games. Calum McGregor, our Goalkeeper, will be on top form! You'll struggle to get past him...
I was going to take my Mrs to her first game but decided not too after seeing the amount of tickets on sale. First impressions count to woman.
Well played mate, Great thinking!
Hehe I really hope you don’t, but we are definitely favorites to be shat on out of the two of us
Hm, our goalie.. haven’t mentioned him.
Young guy, big (but thin) guy. Raised in AIK club since a tiny boy, has an AIK-tattoo on his shoulder (got it after winning the gold with us last year). So a lot of heart here.
Game wise? He’s good, somewhat unstable from time to time but also has a high “low standard” so to say. What he lacks is experience basically. But he has a sold defense in front of him.
Our defence gives me the fear.
What have we told you * sake.
Keep yer bedroom stuff with yer mrs away from the site.
Elhamed a doubt, we go into this game with no defence. Shambles we are in this position, I thought last years summer transfer window was bad but this is worse. For the first time I do not feel confident that we can go through. Maybe scrape a 2-1 win at home but the away league leaves me fearful. A back 3 or 4 from Ajer, julien, Simo, Ralston ,Boli
No. It's not.
I love how you guys are worried about your defence. Our offence is great, on paper, but lets just say Norling (our coach) has a strict type of soccer. Defensive is always no1, for all players on the pitch, if you cant handle that you wont be playing at all.
You will notice it very quickly, unless Norling all of a sudden changes everything and goes forward (which i doubt). It happens once in a while, always unexpected, but not often at all. When he does, my *.. we run everyone over.
Between fans we say "släpp handbromsen" which means "release/loosen the handbrake" basically, because on paper we have the second to strongest, if not the strongest, team. No doubt. But somehow many fans feel we never get the full potential of the team (for many reasons). Somehow we struggle against * teams in the league (even though we end up winning in the end), somehow it feels slow, way slower than should be possible with the players we have.
Buuuut, we end up winning and thats what important.
Im not really sure how your league is compared to ours, i just know (or think) you guys (as in Celtic, not the league) are one number bigger than us. Even though you seem to have somewhat of a bad form at the moment (we might as well, 5 straight wins and now loss to Kalmar. Either we bounce back or we dont..).
Given the players we’ve lost and lack of depth in key areas aye it is. We are a * shambles constantly playing players out of position to cover the lack of forward planning.
I disagree. It's too much of a coincidence he plays in all of our worst performances. Hides when going gets tough - not good at Ibrox.
