Aye I was just thinking that too. Either way, it was wrong. Sure he knows that now though.

It's not that anyone will be wishing them failure.

But it will hard not to be feeling less optimistic with some of the names thrown about. To me that is unacceptable for the very fact you mentioned - that we are on the verge of something great.

If we are to get one of these two, then it's Game On!

We get Moyes, then just * off...

If true, you'd think that if that was the main stumbling block the board could push that request back to him and say "Get us into the champions each season and we might be able to promise you that!"

being honest the only thing ive got told from a boy who usually produces some early transfer names and teams , is that we want eddie howe and have spoke to him and raffa ,but i stick it in the too good to be true category

Would be delighted with either Rafa or Howe. I think Howe suits us more in terms of developing young players and attacking football. However, Rafa is a cup king and would be better in Europe.

Can't see Howe or Benitez leaving England to come here.

I couldn't see Eddie Howe coming if I'm completely honest. He's been linked with some big jobs in the future so I think he's an absolute no goer.

Rafa on the other hand, totally different. He's won pretty much everything in the game. He will always have that reputation because of the achievements he has previously. He doesn't need the money. He's unhappy with the current situation at Newcastle. I think he's a massive possibility.

So Davie Moyes is odds on now at the bookies, wouldn't be the worse appointment and better than we have. I would love Raffa to get the gig, but the transfer kitty I reckon will be a stumbling block.

Eddie Howe is interesting, he has kept Bournmouth in the top flight for the last few seasons, but also playing attractive football. If he can get Celtic champions league football, this job could be a huge stepping stone for a bigger job down South.

If these three names were genuine achievable targets, then I'd go in this order:

Rafa Benitez - champions league winner/Uefa cup winner twice, twice la liga, club world cup, european super cup, two domestic league cups, two italian super cups, community shield. Tactical master.

Eddie Howe - brilliant promoter of academy players, sets his teams up to play fluid attacking fitba, one of the brightest young managers in world fitba.

Neil Lennon - don't want him as permanent manager, but by * I'd be begging him to take the job before Moyes.

Eddie Howe is a complete non-starter, unsure where that’s even come from. We won’t even consider him on paper.

In the sense that he's a completely unrealistic target, or that you don't like him?
