Discuss Celtic’s next permanent manager (poll added) in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.
Rose would certainly be an ambitious appointment..
Marco Rose was favourite for the United job not so long ago, and has Red Bull Salzburg playing the best football in the Europa League on a modest budget.
Would be absolutely shocked if he ended up here. His stock is alot higher than some think.
His Salzburg team never managed to get through the Champions League qualifiers. We've qualified the last two seasons out of three.
I'd thought they dropped into the europa from the CL group stages the year they got to the semis of the Europa, but apparently not. I should stop going from memory, it's getting worse!
How many shots did he have at that? And who did they play?
If he is rigid in his philosophy like BR was then it’s maybe the last thing we need..
Rijeka n Red Star.
Marco Rose has a proven track record with a top European club Salzburg.
He would be nothing like Delia who was a project managing an obscure European team, an experiment that should never have been risked in my opinion, giving where we were at the time, it would have been better sticking with Lenny at the time instead of trying to foist an unknown No.2. on Lenny.
Rose would bring innovation and freshness to Celtic with a football philosophy that
centres on total football with an attacking flair which could make us more competitive in Europe and solidify our position at home.
I don't think it would be a gamble at all, I think it would be calculated progression.
That's not the case at all Nobody is advocating Lennon getting the job purely based on past results, but a few seem to be going down the route of not wanting him despite his past results, even if he's successful as caretaker.
That last bit is crucial, and quite bizarre to me.
Even if he is successful as caretaker he is not the man to take us forward and progress as a club. Appointing him would be a cop out.
Rose would be arguably an improvement on Rodgers. Just can't see it myself, he'd want a really good wage.
So he shouldn't be judged on results and performances like any other manager at any other club ?
Doubt Rose would even be on half of what Rodgers was.
He’s yesterday’s man and we can do better. And unless performances improve drastically and fast, I don’t think anything will change my mind. We should be trying to push forward, not stagnating.
Saw on twitter that if a team already qualified for next years CL wins this one then Salzburg will have automatic entry. Youd imagine he'd want a crack at the group's with them.
Currently, or what he would demand? Considering he was linked with the Man U job he was would be wanting a lot of money, since he knows he could get a job in a much better league with a team that could offer him much more.
Rose is also from Leipzig and previously coached/played for various Leipzig clubs. Could be that the Salzburg job is preparing him for the Leipzig job as Red Bull own both and the German Bundesliga is a step up from the Austrian one.
They spent big money getting Nagelsmann in. Nagelsmann is Rangnick’s prodigy.
A football philosophy that centres on total football with an attacking flair.. sounds like Rodgers..
From the home group game Id say similar philosophys but Rose prefered to carry his out in the opposition half while Brendan preferred our box.
