Shocked to see Miller is the same age as Tierney, I always thought he was 2 years younger.

Tierney is so far ahead of him in terms of physique. He needs to hit the protein shakes.

CALVIN Miller has today signed a new one-year contract with Celtic, extending his stay with the Scottish champions until at least 2020.

The 20-year-old was delighted to put pen to paper in Paradise this afternoon and now he’s set his sights on securing a loan move over the coming campaign to continue his progression.

Under Brendan Rodgers, the left-back has regularly been part of the first-team squad, and he started four times for the Hoops last season.

And both the manager and the Celtic Youth Academy graduate feel a temporary move should form the next part of his development, giving him vital competitive experience as he bids to break into top team on a regular basis.

Speaking excluisively to the official website, Miller said: “I’m absolutely buzzing. Now I just want to go out and play regular first-team football to hopefully get more game-time and show the manager I’m ready for next year.

“The manager is obviously confident in me. He sees me long-term at the club and wants me to develop and that’s why he wants me to go out on loan.

“I feel like I need that myself. I need to be playing regularly as I need game-time and fitness and I’m sure as soon as I do that, I will become a better player.

“I’m training every day with the best players in Scotland. I’m learning every day playing against the best wingers and the most important thing for me is to keep working hard, express myself and be confident.

“Now I need to be playing week-in, week-out and that will make me improve as a player and be ready hopefully for next season.

“My main focus just now is to find the right team to go on loan to and secure a position where I can play every week. I need that experience and the quicker I can do, the better for me and the club when I come back next year.”

Admire his attitude and willingness to go out on loan and improve. Still say he’s never a LB, but hopefully he can go somewhere and grow into being a defender.

Why we wasting time and money extending his contract, he's never gonna do anything here. Same with Ralston.

Getting pretty scunnered with the way we are doing things just now.

Not a massive fan but don't see any harm in giving him an extra year and loaning him out.

I think with our younger players, we can't compare them to Tierney. Tierney is one in a million. It'd be like comparing Gerrard with Rodgers.

To be fair, Tierney is one of our standouts, when Miller has played he doesn't even look an able back up domestically.

no surprise there, club will sell him on for 50-100k after the loan deal. In my opinion he looks a better player than Ralston but when you have Tierney and Izaguirre to compete with you aren't going to get game time.
