His da is far from staunch. One of them aye but not a bigot.

Has sat in with us, watching his son and is "very proud" of what he has managed to do in the game.

Sorted us out with briefs on a few occasions..

    There you go..

Aye, highly unlikely to be staunch when your boy has been here since he was 8 and 18 year's and counting a possible 23 and more to come..

Supporting and watching him every week whilst he's loving it and successful..

But the Huns were all adamant he was off and McGregor just seen us as a job. Comical mob..

    Great news.

Will help us if Leicester come in for him. We'll either put them off and he'll be happy to stay on these better terms or he'll go for top, top dollar.

    But * Leicester.

I would love nothing more than him to stay for all of those 5 years (and more) he is a tremendous wee player. You can still see the delight on his face at scoring a goal or lifting a trophy, that propaganda that he was unhappy with Lennon was clear BS.

Realistically, guys like McGinn and Armstrong are making more than him down South when they are nowhere near McGregor's technical ability.

There might come a point where he fancies a crack at England and/or the £s available down there but with this deal we've now made sure that it'll be on our terms and our terms only, if he does leave.

    Aye I've no doubt mate..

Win the 10 and go with our blessings in the peak year's of his career. He'll be 28..

Think he'll stay for it now but if no...we'll get the market value..

I dunno, mate. Was he actually worth a new contract now that he can't play two games a week anymore? :39:

Cynical but my first thought was Celtic know he's off and are looking to maximize on a transfer fee. Anyone coming in for him will get the idea the clubs serious and won't be letting him go for less than he's worth. Love the guy and he's a gifted wee player but we never thought KT would leave the way he did. He made a big mistake as he looks totally out of place in that crap team.

Excellent news. He’ll stay for the 10 and we’ll still be in a position to demand £30-£35mil

Find it * the likes of the weasel and KT have tainted it for everyone else. There’s nothing to suggest that Calmac and Forrest won’t give the best chunk of their careers to us.

The club will deal with any bids accordingly but it’s only after those bids are considered or accepted that the players themselves have a decision to make. Until then we have to take things on face value, he’s committed his future to Celtic.

Fair enough but he didn't need to sign a new contract...nevermind a 5 year one..

Think there's a few thing's that separate McGregor from the KT scenario..

    It's great news.

Really hope he stays but on the future scenario, such a long contract would surely have a certain transfer fee that would trigger his option to leave if he desired. That seems to be fair to both him and the Club.

Well done the Club on getting the deal done, as he says in the interview, if you're good with us it'll be acknowledged and you'll get rewarded.

I think most decent players want to do the club a good turn when they leave. Especially when the relationship has been a very positive one. I'm still not convinced that KT really wanted to go. I watch him with Arsenal and it's like he's being professional but the passion is missing. He just doesn't look like our KT anymore. Everyone can say that he could simply refuse to go but none of us will ever know what goes on behind the scenes. Big money is big money and when you're young the pressures are not always easy to deal with. I must add though that I hope Calmac stays.

I think if any player within our squad was offered 3 or 4 times their wage and the chance to play in a better League, then they could not be criticised for leaving, as supporters we may look at things from a naive point of view thinking that a players love for the club would be enough to keep them here.

I think if an offer of around 25 mil came in for CalMac, the decision would be taken out of the players hands tbh.

For a player it can be a short career, trophies don't pay the bills.
