Apparently there are 3 or 4 teams in England in financial trouble! We should be pushing to get in the English league the Welsh teams did it so why not us?

I've never overly wanted us to go south, although completely see the positives financially and it would see us in the medium term be able to challenge for major titles.

If we make the ten, it would be some signal for us to turn around and basically say "done it all, this isn't working for us anymore" and move south. It would be interesting to see where we would "enter" would never be their top league, the championship is a debate, but likely it would be to league 2.

Would any of us accept that? First two seasons would be okay, championship could be 3 years in there.

It's alright saying our budget dwarves all them, till the top end of championship, but it's enticing the players to come/stay during that journey.

Personally reckon within ten years of being in the English setup, we would be challenging and winning domestic tournaments and at the latter stages of Europe

It would be interesting to see what would happen in following scenario.
We win SPL and qualify for CL.
SFA/SPL and SPL runner up object to us taking the Scottish CL spot and the EPL club who takes last English CL place loses out as we take it.

The EFL Board met this morning in regard to Bury FC.

Shortly before Friday’s 11.59pm Notice of Withdrawal deadline, the EFL received notification that an offer for the Club had been accepted and a request was submitted to extend for a further period in order to successfully conclude a sale.

The Board has fully considered the information that has been made available by C&N Sporting Risk and whilst no formal sale has been completed, despite reports to the contrary, enough credible information was presented to allow the Board to agree to work exclusively with the Club and C&N Sporting Risk over this Bank Holiday weekend in an attempt to finalise the change of control and achieve a positive outcome for Bury FC.

The EFL Board, however, remains firmly of the view that the League cannot be in a position whereby any more of the Club’s 2019/20 fixtures will be suspended due to the integrity of the competition, the impact on other clubs in the League and therefore has stated that matters must be concluded by 5pm on Tuesday 27 August 2019.

If in the event a successful outcome is not achieved by this point, then Bury FC’s share in the EFL will be withdrawn and its membership in the League will come to an end.

Executive Chair Debbie Jevans, CBE, said: “The Board has considered the evidence presented and has determined, in a final effort to allow the Club the opportunity to survive, to grant an extension and work exclusively with the Club and C&N Sporting Risk to see if a takeover is possible.

“No one wants to see a Club lose its place in the League and we will now work with the potential purchasers over the weekend and ahead of the Tuesday deadline in an attempt to find the solutions required for a sale to take place.”

The EFL Board has been informed that C&N Sporting Risk will no longer be pursuing their interest in Bury FC.

The League announced at the weekend that it was working exclusively with the Club and C&N in an attempt to finalise a change of control at the Club. However, following a period of due diligence, C&N have opted not to progress matters.

The League continues to be in discussions with Bury FC in advance of today’s 5pm deadline and will provide a further update as appropriate.

    That’s them expelled sadly.

I would happily take their place in the English football league to answer the question though.

Well chuffed with this, supported Bury FC since I was a kid, first English game I went to see. My brother in law is a fan, he grew up there took me to a Bury vs Man U friendly, was the year all the kids come through intonthe first team, Beckham, Scholes, Giggs etc. All the bairns werevsat on the park leaning against the hordings was a class atmosphere, mind the game finishingband going to this greasy spoon and my brother getting a tikka masala, going in my brother in law starts roaring 'its * mick!!' Low and behold it was * mick Hucknall lol

Bury certainly did it the hard way, investors bought the club off the administrators, the club that formed after Bury were thrown out formed Bury AFC. 4 years later the 2 parties had a vote to merge as Bury FC with them taking Bury AFCs place in the lower leagues.
