Broony is licking his lips right now. He'll get fit, fresh and come back, all guns blazing. Barton and his * wee team are getting steamrolled over !

Not for me, Barton is an average footballer too, hardly known for his on the ball ability.

To be fair to Mick it's not that laughable a suggestion.

Tinted specs aff and there isn't much between them. Both quite average technically.

I haven't seen a lot of Barton in recent years mind you.

Bartons still a solid player but I don't think he's better than Brown. We need the dependable and feisty Scott Brown back. If he shows up this season, we shouldn't have many concerns in the middle of the park. Another thing to remember is Bartons coming in along with 2 freebies from Accrington, not like he's surrounded by Bitton, McGregor, Rogic ect...

He said "far better footballer" though. Making out as if Barton is actually a good footballer when he's an average one about comparible with someone like Kayal. His pass completion this season was 74% for Burnley and it's not as if he's a creative player so thats pretty terrible.

Dunno why but I read it as 'better' never seen the far, unless he has edited it since:smiley-laughing002:

I'd disagree with saying he is far better however I will hold my hands up and admit it's a good signing for them. It will be an interesting battle.

Brown at his best is a better player than Barton IMO, I couldn't have seen Barton putting the types of performances in that Brown has for us in the Champions League.

Barton is a good signing for them but if we were signing him at 34 I would be pretty embarrassed.

Joey Bartons a bigger * than Brown, thats about all he surpasses him for.

Brown will run all over him.

Do you reckon Gerrard is honestly a possibility? Always thought he was a dirty * as a player who seemed to have the engerlish refs in his pocket; the amount of 2 footed tackles he got away with in his career was unreal- that said he couldnae half strike a ball and find a pass. Normally a player at that age I'd say naw but mind Henke when he went to a star studded barca team- didn't do bad and also when he went to Man U; Rooney et al said he was the best pro ever and they all benefitted from his 10 weeks there.
I'd actually like to see him come if I'm honest, if even for his experience for Europe and the benefits it would have for our younger lads going forward. Money of course will be a contributing factor and unknown yet what war chest BR's been given. Happy days and not too concerned about "je suis Joey"- hes a f'ing rocket and will get caught up in all the goldfish bowl mentalness sooner rather than later

I don't know, I haven't really watched much of Barton over the years to give an opinion on him. Just know he's a bit of a nutcase.

Barton will be well into his 34th year by the time we meet them. This isn't the best Barton, who's a good player. This is Joey Barton that turned down the Premiership because he's no longer capable of playing in it. Brown at his best could play there no bother still.

Tells you all you need to know.
