I feel his comments are the same as a year ago as I highlighted above he seems confident of getting players in but then nothing

Maybe if they actually asked Brendan a decent question about football he’d have given them longer answers.

Last summer they went on and on about a striker. We signed a third striker then when Edouard played ahead of Griffiths it turned into another drama. Go an about needing an experienced cb. We sign one before the window even opens... Now suddenly it’s not enough.

Panic merchants on here would do well to listen to Brendan instead of greetin every day we don’t sign someone.

Getting a bit tetchy there is oor Brendan............

Personally I'm not that bothered if we sign anyone this month or not. In general it's much harder to get the players you ideally want in this transfer window, so given the fact we already have the tools to do the job domestically, I'd be fine with sitting on our wallet until the summer. I do however expect the board to give Brendan significant backing at that time. This team needs strengthened and we have the wherewithal to strengthen it.

Problem in summer mark is we don’t have really any time to get players into the club in time for the qualifiers we will need to play 4 qualifiers to make CL this year, Brendan has said last year and this that the January window is very important to get players in, to get them 6 months used to the club also with all the injuries the squad is down to 17 fit first team players any more injuries and we are really struggling and apart from Griffiths they are all a month or more missing some key games in the process.

People need to stop listening to the * stories from the media ,trying to create a * storm on our manager with panic merchant supporters , we should wait until the window closes ,then if we need to panic ,do so ,no point in if ,buts or maybe's .
No wonder he is getting irked by some questions .

Brendans interview yesterday sounded like he is frustrated. It could be the board are not backing him but I doubt it as he wouldnt hang around. Its more likely the player he is wanting have agents holding out for bigger salaries or other options. There is a ouple of weks to go so anything can happen. In Brendan we trust.

The problem is that the CL qualifying rounds start mid July, if we are to get any new faces in then now would be the best time to do it, give them a few months to bed in.

In an ideal world, perhaps. But the fact is if the players we are targeting are any good(which obviously we hope they are) then their current club is going to be very reluctant to let them go mid season. Unless we pay over the odds for them. The summer is the best time to bring players on board. Yeah it leaves us a bit pressed for time in regard to the Champions League qualifiers but we should be able to navigate the first couple of rounds with what we have already. That gives us until around the end of July to get the players we want. Which is essentially how it always was in the past. If we get to work as soon as the final whistle blows on this season then that should be well doable.

Marvin Compper's injury so soon after joining Celtic justifies fears about his ability to cope with the intensity of play demanded by Brendan Rodgers.

So says former Celtic midfielder Kris Commons, who said last month he found the signing from RB Leipzig "baffling".

The defender has been ruled out for a month with a training-ground injury.

"You have to push your body through the barriers," Commons said of Rodgers' training sessions. "At nearly 33, it is a big ask to get to those levels."

Commons thinks Celtic's training methods have risks as well as benefits.

"The intensity that Brendan demands of your training session, not just for two minutes, it's literally 60-70 minutes every single morning," he told BBC Scotland.

"If you can't replicate that every single day or on the days when he's wanting it, it's simple - you won't play.

"So you have to push your body through the barriers where he needs. That's just not sprinting - it's distance covered.

"At the start of the season, everybody was saying this was the fittest Celtic team we've ever seen, Scott Brown looks a different player, he's developed Callum McGregor, Stuart Armstrong, James Forest looks like he's worth £10-12m nowadays.

"But you only have to look at Leigh Griffiths, who's a very fit boy. He's picked up numerous calf injuries.

"You look at Scott Sinclair. He's picked up a hamstring injury. You look at Moussa Dembele. I think he's pulled his hamstring three times."

Commons was concerned that Compper, signed for £1m on a two-and-a-half year contract but cup-tied for the Europa League, would not be able to cope.

"I just thought it was a higher risk bringing in a 32-year-old defender who is not going to play in Europe this season and who has been injury prone," he added.

"When you sign players in the 32-33 year old bracket, there has to be a little worry about injuries or recurring injuries and, looking at his playing stats since 2012, he has barley racked up 100 appearances in nearly six years.

"Celtic are playing 60-70 games every single season. Compper is averaging about 20."

This will only add fuel to the feeling that our training regime is causing unnecessary injuries.

Can see what he is saying but it didn't exactly harm our form over a 69 game run. Last few months we have looked tired but granted.

That's what you have to do but. Push yourself to the max to get into the side and it should be that way.

Rodgers is right our defence cruises it domestically ..but europe a diff matter some of the teams weve played you could throw 50m at the backline and it would not make a blind bit of difference in that arena.psg bayern man city barc3lona ...and zenit are no mugs either

How many players do we have injured at the moment? 6-7?

Relatively high but not so high that it should cause too much concern.

Hopefully Roberts and Armstrong will be available for Zenit. A number 10 and a CB and I think we’ll have a chance.

Not as fussed if Armstrong is available or not, he does * all in Europe and Ntcham would be better starting.

The important thing is we have Roberts and Rogic available, with, as you say there, a better option at CB in. That is just for starters though, ideally I'd like a winger/no10, just as an option to have. Especially with Hayes out.

Our squad is suddenly looking a bit bare in some areas.

The defence might well not face too many challenges domestically but I think we get away with it a lot more often than he is alluding to. There is no doubting we can improve on what we have, significantly IMO.

The attitude that 'its fine domestically and in Europe we'll get pumped anyway' shouldn't wash. Reeks of having zero ambition, which I like to think we do....at least to a certain degree, not expecting a European cup win anytime soon!
